Summary

This 2016 Toyota Land Cruiser GXR is a definitive choice for GCC buyers prioritizing long-term durability and mechanical simplicity. Finished in a practical Grey, which remains a high-demand resale color in the region, this V6 model offers a more fuel-efficient alternative to the V8 while maintaining the legendary body-on-frame toughness required for desert excursions. As a GXR trim, it balances essential ruggedness with upgraded cabin comfort and technology over the base models. Despite the higher mileage, the 1GR-FE V6 engine is renowned across the UAE and Saudi Arabia for reaching high odometer readings with basic maintenance. For a buyer seeking a dependable 8-seater that holds its value better than almost any rival, this listing represents a stable automotive investment.

This Car vs Other 2016 Land Cruisers

With 360,000 km, this vehicle's mileage is above the GCC average of 20,000–25,000 km per year, yet it remains a highly sought-after commodity due to its reputation for 500,000 km+ longevity. The Grey exterior is one of the top three resale colors in the local market, ensuring it stays liquid for future trade-ins. While V8 models are common, this V6 GXR attracts buyers looking for lower registration costs and slightly better daily fuel economy.

GXR vs Lower Trims

The GXR trim provides a significant jump in comfort over the entry-level EXR, adding premium seat upholstery and a more advanced multi-information display. It features enhanced climate control and additional parking assistance which are crucial for navigating tight city spaces in Dubai or Riyadh. Unlike the base trims, the GXR often includes power-adjustable seating and upgraded interior materials that elevate the family cabin experience.

Land Cruiser vs Segment Rivals

Compared to the Nissan Patrol Y62 V6, the Land Cruiser leads in long-term resale value retention and the sheer density of its authorized service network across all seven emirates and the wider GCC. While the Patrol focuses on on-road tech, the Land Cruiser offers a more focused off-road hardware setup and a dual fuel tank configuration that is superior for long-distance desert crossings. Its cabin cooling system is specifically engineered to maintain sub-zero temperatures even in 50°C summer heat.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the 4.0L V6 averages around 13.4 L/100km combined, which is competitive for a full-size SUV in GCC stop-start traffic. Toyota's service network is the most extensive in the region, with parts available in almost every town from Muscat to Kuwait City. The Land Cruiser historically loses only 8-10% of its value annually, making it one of the slowest-depreciating vehicles in the UAE market.

Performance & Capability

The 4.0L V6 produces a verified 271 hp and 385 Nm of torque, providing smooth power delivery for both highway overtaking and dune climbing. With its robust body-on-frame construction and high ground clearance, it handles rocky wadis and soft sand with ease. The 5-speed automatic transmission is geared for durability, ensuring reliable performance during heavy family hauling or long-distance cross-border drives.

Comfort & Cabin

This 8-seater layout is designed for large GCC families, featuring a powerful air conditioning system with dedicated rear vents to combat extreme heat. The cabin is well-insulated against road noise, providing a quiet environment for long highway stretches between cities. Folding rear seats allow for a massive cargo area, suitable for camping gear or large shopping trips.

Safety

Safety is managed through a comprehensive suite of active and passive systems, including front and side airbags, electronic stability control, and ABS optimized for varied terrain. Standard parking sensors and a rearview camera assist with visibility in a vehicle of this size. The heavy-duty chassis provides a solid safety cell, while the high seating position offers excellent visibility for identifying hazards in fast-moving highway traffic.

The bottom line

Perfect for the pragmatic GCC family or desert enthusiast, this Land Cruiser offers legendary reliability and market-leading resale value in a sensible V6 package.
