Toyota Land Cruiser VXR V4 2.7L Engine Facelift to 2023 Shape Exterior and Interior Both Full Option

Highlights

• Extensive GCC authorised service network
• Crawl Control with Multi-Terrain Select
• 138-litre dual fuel tank standard

Summary

This GCC-spec VXR represents a rare find in the regional market, having covered just over 55,000 km since 2016—a figure significantly lower than the typical desert-driven average. The black exterior remains a top-tier choice for resale strength in the UAE and Saudi Arabia, maintaining a professional and commanding aesthetic. As the premium trim for the 4.6L V8 powertrain, it bridges the gap between rugged utility and high-end executive comfort. For a GCC buyer, this model is the benchmark for reliability, offering a mechanical simplicity that handles extreme summer heat better than almost any other SUV. It is an ideal investment for families who need a vehicle as capable of navigating Friday brunches as it is crossing the Empty Quarter.

This Car vs Other 2016 Land Cruisers

While the average 2016 model in the GCC has typically surpassed 150,000 km, this example sits at roughly a third of that distance, making it a mechanical outlier. The black-on-beige configuration is highly prized in the local pre-owned market, ensuring faster liquidly and higher value retention than more niche colors. Finding a 200-series in this low-mileage condition provides a unique opportunity to own a legendary platform before its transition to smaller, turbocharged engines.

VXR vs Lower Trims

The VXR trim adds critical comfort and performance features over the GXR, most notably the Adaptive Variable Suspension (AVS) which dramatically improves ride quality on rough terrain. Inside, it upgrades to premium leather upholstery and a multi-zone climate control system designed specifically to cool a full cabin rapidly in 45-degree heat. Drivers also benefit from a 360-degree camera system and front-seat ventilation, features that are often absent or optional on lower-tier GCC trims.

Land Cruiser vs Segment Rivals

Compared to the Nissan Patrol, the Land Cruiser leads in historical value retention and the simplicity of its naturally aspirated 4.6L V8. Against American rivals like the Chevrolet Tahoe, it offers a vastly superior departure angle and a specialized low-range transfer case for genuine off-road duty. The inclusion of the 138-litre dual-tank system gives it a significant range advantage for long-distance cross-border drives between Dubai, Muscat, or Riyadh.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the 4.6L V8 averages around 14.5L/100km, though this can rise in stop-start city traffic in Dubai or Riyadh. Toyota’s authorized service network is the most robust in the region, with parts available in almost every major town across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Oman. The Land Cruiser historically holds the highest resale value in the GCC SUV segment, typically depreciating only 8-10% annually compared to 15% for European luxury equivalents.

Performance & Capability

The 304 hp V8 is paired with a reliable 6-speed automatic transmission, delivering a smooth torque curve ideal for overtaking on the E11 or climbing high dunes. Its 225mm ground clearance and factory-fitted Crawl Control allow it to navigate soft sand with ease, a feature specifically tuned for GCC desert conditions. With a braked towing capacity of approximately 3,500 kg, it is also perfectly suited for hauling boats or trailers for weekend getaways.

Comfort & Cabin

This 7-seater configuration offers a genuinely usable third row, supported by a powerful rear AC system with dedicated pillar vents for every passenger. The cabin is exceptionally well-insulated, keeping the interior quiet even at highway speeds of 140 km/h and protected from the external heat. Premium features like the cooled center console box ensure drinks stay chilled during long desert expeditions or extended commutes.

Safety

The VXR trim comes standard with a comprehensive safety suite including 10 airbags and Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) which is vital for maintaining traction on sand-covered asphalt. It also features Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System (KDSS) to reduce body roll during high-speed highway maneuvers and Multi-Terrain ABS for improved stopping distances on loose surfaces. Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alerts provide essential assistance during busy multi-lane highway driving.

The bottom line

For the GCC buyer who prioritizes durability and resale value above all else, this low-mileage VXR is the definitive choice for a long-term family workhorse.
