Summary

This 2017 Honda Pilot EX is a versatile family workhorse perfectly suited for the GCC’s demanding environment. With 193,000 km, it sits right at the expected mileage for a 9-year-old vehicle in this region, where long-distance highway commutes are the norm. The EX trim offers a significant step up in convenience over the base model, including intelligent traction management and key safety tech. Finished in a practical Green, it offers a refreshing alternative to the standard palette while maintaining the strong resale reputation Honda enjoys across the Emirates. For families needing a reliable three-row SUV that balances power with daily efficiency, this is a standout choice in the used market.

This Car vs Other 2017 Honda Pilots

At 193,000 km, this Pilot has averaged roughly 21,500 km per year, which is well within the typical 20,000–25,000 km annual range for GCC-based family SUVs. Unlike many high-mileage imports, this is a GCC-spec vehicle, ensuring the cooling systems and air conditioning are factory-built to handle extreme summer heat. The unique green exterior is a durable choice for local conditions, resisting the visible dust and sun-fade often seen on darker shades.

EX vs Lower Trims

The EX trim adds essential upgrades over the base LX that GCC buyers value, most notably the tri-zone automatic climate control and the Honda LaneWatch blind-spot camera. It also features a 10-way power-adjustable driver's seat, remote engine start for pre-cooling the cabin in summer, and LED daytime running lights. These additions significantly improve the daily ownership experience and help the vehicle command a higher premium at resale.

Pilot vs Segment Rivals

The Pilot competes directly with the Toyota Highlander and Nissan Pathfinder, leading the segment in cargo flexibility with up to 2,375 liters of total storage space. While the Highlander is known for its hybrid efficiency, the Pilot’s J35 V6 offers superior raw performance and a smoother power delivery on the highway. Its intelligent AWD system is also more sophisticated than basic crossover setups, providing dedicated modes for sand and mud.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for this 3.5L V6 typically averages around 10.7 L/100km, with highway efficiency reaching nearly 9.0 L/100km during long inter-city drives. Honda maintains a massive authorized service network across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Oman, ensuring parts are affordable and easily sourced. Historically, the Pilot retains roughly 55-60% of its value after three years in the GCC, making it one of the most stable investments in the mid-size SUV category.

Performance & Capability

The 280 hp V6 engine is surprisingly punchy, enabling a 0–100 km/h sprint in just 7.0 seconds—outperforming many V8 rivals in its class. The Intelligent Variable Torque Management (i-VTM4) AWD system is designed for more than just rain; it includes specific settings for sand and mud that are highly effective for weekend trips to the desert. With a braked towing capacity of 2,268 kg, it is also fully capable of hauling boats or trailers for family adventures.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is designed for GCC family logistics, featuring seven-passenger seating with a genuinely usable third row. Rear-seat passengers benefit from dedicated climate vents and their own control zone, ensuring the cabin stays chilled even when external temperatures exceed 45°C. Acoustic glass and active noise cancellation work together to provide a quiet, refined environment for long cross-border road trips.

Safety

Standard safety equipment on this EX trim includes the Honda LaneWatch camera, which displays a live feed of the right-side blind spot on the central screen. The vehicle is equipped with a comprehensive airbag suite, stability control for sandy surfaces, and a multi-angle rearview camera with dynamic guidelines. These features provide vital peace of mind when navigating fast-moving multi-lane highway traffic in major GCC cities.

The bottom line

Perfect for the growing family that needs Honda's legendary reliability and enough power to handle both city traffic and desert weekends with ease.
