Summary

This 2017 Range Rover HSE represents the refined fourth generation of Land Rover’s flagship, offering a sophisticated balance of prestige and all-terrain engineering. Its silver exterior is a neutral, high-demand choice in the GCC, ensuring it remains a staple for resale value in the local market. While the mileage reflects active use consistent with GCC highway commuting, the robust 3.0L supercharged V6 is built for these long-distance demands. For a buyer in the Emirates or across the border, this trim delivers the essential luxury features expected of the badge without the complexity of higher-output variants. The most important consideration for a local owner is the specialized air suspension and cooling systems, which are engineered to handle the region's extreme heat and varying terrain.

This Car vs Other 2017 Range Rovers

With 163,000 km, this vehicle is aligned with the average annual mileage for a nine-year-old car in the GCC, where 20,000 km per year is the standard for long-distance highway driving. The silver exterior is a significant advantage for resale, as it is one of the most sought-after colors in the local market for heat reflection and sustained value. While higher-mileage examples exist, this GCC-spec listing offers the mechanical peace of mind that comes from a vehicle designed specifically for the region's unique fuel grades and high-temperature operating environment.

HSE vs Lower Trims

The HSE trim provides a substantial upgrade over the base SE, most notably adding soft-close doors and a panoramic sunroof which are highly valued by buyers in the UAE and KSA. It also typically upgrades the cabin with perforated Windsor leather and 20-way power-adjustable seats, providing significantly better support for long drives across the Emirates. Unlike the standard model, the HSE provides access to a wider catalog of premium options, making it a more desirable choice for secondary buyers who prioritize interior comfort and brand prestige.

Range Rover vs Segment Rivals

When compared to rivals like the Mercedes-Benz GLS and the Lexus LX, the Range Rover leads with a superior 105-litre fuel tank, providing a much longer range for desert highway crossings between cities. Its all-aluminum monocoque construction makes it lighter and more agile than the body-on-frame Lexus, while its 900 mm wading depth and Terrain Response 2 system offer off-road capability that road-biased crossovers like the BMW X7 cannot match. For the GCC buyer, this model strikes the definitive balance between a premium executive commuter and a weekend-ready adventurer.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the 3.0L supercharged V6 typically averages around 10.7 L/100km, though this reflects a mix of long-distance highway efficiency and higher consumption during stop-start city traffic in Dubai or Riyadh. As a GCC-spec vehicle, it benefits from a wide network of authorized service centers across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait, ensuring parts availability and qualified technicians are always accessible. While luxury SUVs in this segment typically see a depreciation rate of 12-15% annually, the Range Rover's flagship status and silver color help it retain a premium over non-regional imports.

Performance & Capability

The Range Rover features a 900 mm maximum wading depth, a figure that leads the luxury SUV segment and provides confidence during the region's heavy seasonal rain and flooded wadis. The 3.0L supercharged V6 delivers smooth, linear power that is perfect for overtaking on the E11 or E311 highways, paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission for refined cruising. The standard air suspension allows the vehicle to raise for serious terrain clearance or lower for easier access, while the Terrain Response 2 system automatically optimizes the drivetrain for sand, gravel, and rock surfaces common in the UAE desert.

Comfort & Cabin

The five-seat cabin is designed as a sanctuary from the GCC summer heat, featuring a powerful dual-zone climate control system and deep-tinted glass to maintain cool temperatures. Standard perforated leather ensures breathability during peak afternoon drives, while the 10.2-inch Touch Pro infotainment system provides modern connectivity and navigation across the region. With high-quality acoustic insulation, the interior remains quiet and composed even at high highway speeds, making it ideal for family trips between Abu Dhabi and Dubai.

Safety

The HSE trim comes equipped with a comprehensive safety suite including front and rear park distance sensors, a rear-view camera, and electronic air suspension for enhanced stability. Adaptive Xenon headlamps with LED signatures provide excellent visibility for night driving on unlit desert roads, while Roll Stability Control and Trailer Stability Assist ensure the vehicle remains poised during emergency maneuvers. The inclusion of multiple advanced airbags and Emergency Brake Assist provides a high level of protection for all five passengers.

The bottom line

This GCC-spec Range Rover HSE is the ideal choice for an executive or family seeking the prestige of the flagship L405 generation in a resale-strong color. It offers a well-documented path to ownership for a buyer who values regional compatibility and essential luxury features over the higher costs of a V8.
