Summary

This 2017 C300 offers an entry-point into Mercedes-Benz luxury with a focus on efficient daily commuting across the GCC. While the American spec differentiates it from local dealer cars, the silver exterior remains a top-tier choice for resale strength and heat management in the UAE. Navigating urban traffic is made easier by its compact footprint, and the engine provides plenty of zip for inter-emirate highway cruising. For a nine-year-old vehicle, it maintains a modern presence that holds up well against newer rivals. The key for a GCC buyer is the car's balance between the prestige of the three-pointed star and manageable running costs.

This Car vs Other 2017 C300s

At 174,000 km, this vehicle’s mileage is slightly above the typical GCC average for a nine-year-old car but reflects the reality of frequent long-distance driving between cities like Dubai and Abu Dhabi. Its silver finish is one of the most practical colors for the region, showing less dust and resisting the intense summer sun better than darker alternatives. While American spec cars often feature different infotainment software, they provide a well-documented equipment list that many local buyers find attractive for the price point.

STANDARD vs Lower Trims

Moving into the C300 trim brings a noticeable upgrade in cabin materials and technology compared to the base C200. This model includes standard driver-seat memory and dual high-resolution cockpit displays, features that are highly valued in the GCC used market. You also benefit from more robust safety tech including Collision Prevention Assist Plus, which provides extra peace of mind on fast-moving highways.

C300 vs Segment Rivals

The C-Class typically leads the BMW 3 Series and Audi A4 in terms of interior perceived quality and cabin insulation, which is vital during the hot summer months. Its suspension is tuned more for comfort than the 3 Series, making it a better companion for the daily commute on the E11 or E311. Additionally, the C-Class offers 455 litres of luggage space, effectively matching or exceeding several rivals in the compact executive category.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for this 1.5-litre turbocharged powertrain typically averages between 7.0 and 8.5 L/100km depending on how much time is spent in stop-start traffic. Mercedes-Benz has an extensive authorized service network across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait, ensuring parts are readily available. While American spec vehicles depreciate slightly faster than GCC spec equivalents, the C-Class remains a high-demand model in the region, typically retaining value better than its French or Italian competitors.

Performance & Capability

The 200 hp engine ensures smooth overtaking on high-speed desert highways, supported by a refined automatic transmission. With a top speed reaching approximately 240 km/h, the car is engineered for high-speed stability and comfort over long distances. Different drive modes allow the driver to prioritize fuel efficiency for city commutes or sharpen the throttle response for weekend drives.

Comfort & Cabin

The five-seat layout features MB-Tex synthetic leather, which is known for its durability and resistance to cracking under heat. Powerful dual-zone climate control is a standout, ensuring the cabin reaches a comfortable temperature quickly even after being parked in the sun. Thoughtful details like the 40/20/40-split folding rear seats add a layer of practicality for shopping trips or carrying longer items.

Safety

Safety is a hallmark of this generation, featuring an array of airbags including a driver knee airbag as standard. GCC-relevant systems like Attention Assist help detect driver fatigue during long, monotonous highway journeys. The inclusion of frontal collision warning and mitigation provides a safety net for unpredictable city traffic, while stability and traction control are expertly tuned for both wet roads and the fine sand often found on local asphalt.

The bottom line

This silver C300 is a smart choice for the professional seeking a prestige brand with an efficient powertrain. It offers a premium GCC ownership experience at a significantly more accessible price point than GCC-spec equivalents.
