Summary

This 2017 Land Cruiser VXR offers a definitive blend of legendary durability and top-tier luxury. With its 5.7L V8 engine, it remains one of the most capable and prestigious SUVs for both the school run and deep desert expeditions. The White exterior is arguably the most desirable resale color in the GCC, and while the mileage reflects consistent use, these vehicles are engineered for a 25-year lifespan. For a GCC buyer, this model represents a masterclass in reliability, supported by the region's most extensive service network.

This Car vs Other 2017 Land Cruisers

At 9 years old, this Land Cruiser's mileage is aligned with typical GCC usage patterns, where long-distance highway commutes between emirates are common. The White exterior ensures it remains highly liquid in the used market, consistently holding more value than darker shades. For a car of this age, the mechanical integrity of the 5.7L V8 remains a significant advantage over newer, smaller-displacement rivals.

VXR vs Lower Trims

The VXR is the flagship grade, adding essential GCC luxuries not found on the GXR or EXR, such as ventilated front seats and a factory-integrated refrigerator. It also features the 14-speaker JBL premium audio system and the full Toyota Safety Sense suite, including adaptive cruise control. Crucially for off-roading, the VXR includes Multi-Terrain Select and Crawl Control, providing superior traction management in deep sand.

Land Cruiser vs Segment Rivals

The Land Cruiser leads rivals like the Nissan Patrol and Chevrolet Tahoe in long-term durability and regional parts availability. While European rivals offer more tech, the Land Cruiser’s liquid-cooled 5.7L engine is specifically optimized for extreme 50°C summer temperatures. Its heavy-duty body-on-frame construction provides a level of off-road resilience that unibody competitors cannot match.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption averages 15.7 L/100km, reflecting the substantial power of the V8 in stop-start city traffic. Service intervals are typically every 10,000 km, with one of the widest authorized service networks spanning the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Oman. The Land Cruiser historically enjoys the lowest depreciation rate in the GCC, often retaining over 50% of its value even after nearly a decade.

Performance & Capability

The 5.7L V8 produces a robust 545 Nm of torque, enabling a 0-100 km/h time of approximately 7 seconds—impressive for a vehicle of this scale. Its full-time 4WD system and high ground clearance make it a natural in the desert, while the 8-speed automatic transmission ensures smooth cruising on the E11 highway. This trim is also highly capable for towing, making it ideal for marine or equestrian transport across the region.

Comfort & Cabin

The 8-seat cabin is designed for large families, featuring a dual-tank system for extended range on cross-border drives. Dedicated rear climate control with ceiling-mounted vents ensures all three rows stay cool during peak summer. Premium leather upholstery and wood trim provide a refined environment, while the cooled center console box keeps beverages chilled during long desert outings.

Safety

The VXR comes standard with a comprehensive safety package, including 360-degree cameras and blind-spot monitoring, which are essential for navigating fast-moving multi-lane highways. It features 10 airbags and advanced stability control systems specifically tuned for sand and gravel. The inclusion of adaptive cruise control and lane departure warning adds a significant layer of safety for long-distance desert travel.

The bottom line

This VXR is the ideal choice for a family seeking the ultimate GCC-spec all-rounder that balances prestige with bulletproof reliability. It is a rare opportunity to own a top-trim V8 icon that is perfectly suited for the region's demanding climate and terrain.
