Summary

This seven-seat Discovery HSE offers a compelling blend of premium utility and off-road heritage, making it a standout choice for large families in the GCC. While its mileage reflects regular highway use, the vehicle's age of 7 years places it in a bracket where Land Rover's monocoque design and robust 300 hp engine continue to deliver smooth, high-speed cruising between Emirates. This HSE trim adds essential regional luxuries like the Meridian audio system and three-zone climate control, which are vital for maintaining cabin comfort during the UAE's intense summer months. As an American spec model, it provides a high feature-to-value ratio for buyers looking for a capable alternative to more common Japanese SUVs. The combination of seven-seat versatility and iconic go-anywhere capability makes it an ideal companion for both school runs and weekend desert excursions.

This Car vs Other 2019 Discoverys

With 128,000 km on the odometer, this vehicle sits at a typical usage level for a 7-year-old SUV in the GCC, where average annual travel often reaches 20,000 km due to frequent inter-city commuting. While American spec models can sometimes differ in local service history, this specific example offers the higher HSE equipment level that remains highly sought after in the secondary market. Blue is a distinguished alternative to the common white or silver, appealing to buyers who value a unique presence on the road.

HSE vs Lower Trims

The HSE trim provides a significant jump in luxury over the base SE, most notably adding 20-inch alloy wheels and the high-fidelity Meridian sound system. Inside, you benefit from driver-seat memory settings and a power-adjustable steering column, features that enhance daily convenience in a shared family vehicle. It also includes the high-resolution digital cockpit display as standard, which was an expensive option on lower trim levels.

Discovery vs Segment Rivals

The Discovery leads rivals like the BMW X5 and Volvo XC90 in pure off-road geometry, offering a maximum ground clearance of 284 mm when the air suspension is fully raised. For GCC families, its genuine adult-sized third row offers more practical space than many other mid-size luxury crossovers. Additionally, its massive 3,720 kg towing capacity exceeds most competitors, making it the superior choice for hauling boats or trailers.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the 300 hp petrol engine averages around 11.5 L/100km, performing efficiently on the long, steady-speed highways of the UAE and Saudi Arabia. As an American spec vehicle, it is important to verify service compatibility with local authorized centers; however, the Discovery maintains a dedicated enthusiast following in the GCC which helps stabilize long-term resale value. Maintenance should follow 12-month or 15,000 km intervals to ensure the sophisticated air suspension and four-wheel-drive systems remain in peak condition.

Performance & Capability

The 300 hp engine provides a refined power delivery that is well-suited to the fast-paced traffic of the E11 highway, reaching 0-100 km/h in approximately 7.7 seconds. Its legendary Terrain Response system allows the driver to optimize the vehicle for sand, grass/gravel/snow, or mud, ensuring confidence during weekend trips to the dunes or wadis. The high wading depth of 900 mm provides additional peace of mind during the occasional heavy rain and localized flooding sometimes seen in coastal GCC cities.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is designed for long-distance comfort, featuring three-zone climate control that ensures rear passengers remain cool even when external temperatures exceed 45°C. The 7-seat layout is highly flexible, with stadium seating that gives passengers in the back a better view forward, reducing motion sickness on long drives. High-quality leather finishes and acoustic glass provide a quiet, insulated environment, shielding the interior from both road noise and desert heat.

Safety

This HSE model is equipped with a comprehensive safety suite including Lane Keep Assist, Blind Spot Monitoring, and a Driver Condition Monitor that alerts you to signs of fatigue. These systems are particularly valuable for the long, straight desert roads common in the region. The vehicle also features a 360-degree parking aid and Clear Exit Monitor to protect passengers when opening doors in busy urban environments.

The bottom line

This 7-year-old Discovery HSE is the perfect opportunity for a growing family that needs a luxury seven-seater with genuine off-road credentials and a premium feature set at an accessible price point.
