Summary

This 2019 Nissan Patrol Super Safari represents the ultimate evolution of the legendary Y61 generation, a vehicle that commands unparalleled respect across the Arabian Peninsula. While newer models have moved toward luxury, the Super Safari remains the go-to choice for serious desert enthusiasts who value mechanical simplicity and proven durability. The Gold exterior is a classic GCC aesthetic that holds its appeal well in the local market, especially when paired with the iconic Super Safari body stripes. With its body-on-frame construction and a specialized 4x4 system, this is a purpose-built machine for the region's most demanding terrains. It offers a unique opportunity to own a modern classic that bridges the gap between old-school toughness and modern cabin comforts.

This Car vs Other 2019 Patrols

At 210,000 km, this vehicle has been driven roughly 35,000 km per year, which is common for GCC-based Patrols used for cross-emirate travel. While the mileage reflects active use, these straight-six engines are engineered for high-mileage longevity, often surpassing 400,000 km with basic maintenance. The Gold exterior is a high-demand resale color in this region, offering better heat reflection and value retention than darker shades.

SUPER SAFARI vs Lower Trims

The Super Safari trim elevates the rugged Y61 platform with essential GCC luxuries, most notably the tan leather interior and the factory-fitted refrigerated cool box. Unlike the base GL or Safari trims, the Super Safari includes a power-adjustable driver’s seat, a sunroof, and navigation as standard. It also features the signature machine-cut 17-inch black alloy wheels and flared fenders that define its iconic look.

Patrol vs Segment Rivals

The Patrol Super Safari's primary rival is the Toyota Land Cruiser 70 Series, but the Nissan offers a significantly more comfortable cabin for daily driving and highway cruising. Its 175-litre fuel tank provides a massive advantage for long-distance desert expeditions compared to smaller SUVs. Furthermore, the coil-spring suspension on the Y61 provides a smoother ride quality on tarmac than the leaf-sprung Land Cruisers.

Running Costs & Resale

Running costs are dominated by fuel consumption, which averages around 17.2 L/100km in mixed GCC driving conditions. However, this is offset by very affordable maintenance, as parts are widely available and every specialized garage in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Oman knows these mechanicals intimately. The Super Safari trim specifically enjoys a cult-like following in the GCC, resulting in much slower depreciation than modern luxury SUVs in the same price bracket.

Performance & Capability

Equipped with a rear locking differential and a dedicated low-range transfer case, this SUV is engineered to conquer the high dunes of Liwa and the Empty Quarter. The heavy-duty suspension and high ground clearance allow it to clear obstacles that would stop a modern crossover. On the highway, the steady power delivery ensures stable cruising even when fully loaded with a family of seven and gear.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is optimized for the intense GCC summer, featuring a high-output air conditioning system with dedicated rear vents to keep all seven passengers cool. The tan leather seats stay cooler in the sun than black upholstery, and the integrated cool box is a vital feature for keeping refreshments chilled during long desert drives. Wood-grain trim and soft-touch materials provide a classic executive feel despite the car's rugged exterior.

Safety

Standard safety features include dual front airbags, an Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), and Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC) to maintain stability on loose sand or wet tarmac. It also comes equipped with a Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) and cruise control, which are essential for safety during long-distance highway travel between GCC cities.

The bottom line

For the desert enthusiast who demands a bulletproof 4x4 with the best regional resale potential, this Gold Super Safari is the definitive choice. It is a mechanically honest workhorse that is as ready for the dunes today as it was the day it left the showroom.
