Summary

This 2020 Nissan Patrol SE Platinum City represents the ideal balance of luxury and practical capability for a GCC owner. As a 6-year-old vehicle with 150,000 km, its mileage sits right at the expected average for a full-size SUV in this region, where highway travel between emirates is frequent. The Grey exterior is one of the most stable colors for resale in the local market, making it a sound financial choice. This model stands out from rivals by offering high-tier comfort features usually reserved for V8 variants but with the more manageable V6 powertrain. The single most important consideration for a GCC buyer is the legendary air conditioning and cooling system, which is specifically engineered to outperform in 50°C summer heat.

This Car vs Other 2020 Nissan Patrols

With 150,000 km over 6 years, this Patrol matches the typical GCC driving cycle of approximately 25,000 km annually. While many used examples in the market may show lower odometer readings, they often lack the consistent highway-driven mechanical health this vehicle offers. The Grey finish is a high-demand, high-resale color in the UAE and Saudi markets, providing a distinct advantage over more niche shades when it comes time to trade in.

SE PLATINUM CITY vs Lower Trims

The Platinum City trim is a significant step up from the SE T2 or Titanium, adding premium quilted leather upholstery and a 360-degree Around View Monitor that is essential for maneuvering such a large vehicle in tight urban spaces. It also includes the 'City' styled bumper and larger 20-inch alloy wheels, alongside ventilated front seats which are a non-negotiable luxury for the local climate. Rear entertainment screens are standard here, making it far superior to lower trims for family road trips.

Nissan Patrol vs Segment Rivals

Compared to the Toyota Land Cruiser, the Patrol leads with a superior on-road ride quality thanks to its suspension tuning and a more tech-focused cabin environment. Its massive 140-litre fuel tank provides a significantly longer cruising range than many rivals, a vital feature for long-distance desert crossings or cross-border travel. Against American rivals like the Ford Expedition, the Patrol holds a clear lead in off-road hardware and long-term resale stability.

Running Costs & Resale

The 4.0L V6 offers a combined real-world fuel consumption of approximately 11.8 L/100km, making it a more efficient daily commuter for GCC traffic compared to the V8 alternatives. Maintenance is straightforward as Nissan has one of the most extensive authorized service networks across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Oman, ensuring parts are always readily available. The Patrol retains approximately 50-60% of its value over five years, making it one of the strongest assets in the regional used car market.

Performance & Capability

Equipped with a 275 hp V6, this Patrol provides smooth and reliable power for highway overtaking and daily duties. Its true strength lies in its off-road pedigree, featuring a selectable 4WD system with a low-range transfer case and a rear locking differential for serious weekend dune driving. The 273 mm ground clearance and specialized approach angles ensure it can handle everything from soft sand to rocky wadis without hesitation.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is a genuine 8-seater with a versatile three-row layout that provides adult-sized legroom throughout. To combat the GCC heat, the SE Platinum City features a high-output multi-zone climate control system with dedicated rear vents and a cooled center console box to keep drinks chilled. Acoustic glass and high-grade insulation ensure the interior remains a quiet sanctuary, even at high highway speeds across the desert.

Safety

This trim is equipped with a comprehensive safety suite including Intelligent Cruise Control, Forward Collision Warning, and Blind Spot Intervention, which are highly effective for fast-moving multi-lane highway traffic. It features a full array of front, side, and curtain airbags, alongside a 360-degree camera system that provides a bird's-eye view for safer parking and off-roading. These active systems work together to provide a level of security that is often optional on competitors.

The bottom line

For a buyer seeking the prestige and space of a Patrol without the fuel overhead of a V8, this well-maintained SE Platinum City is the definitive choice for a regional family workhorse.
