Summary

This Nissan Patrol represents a balanced opportunity for GCC buyers, combining the prestigious Y62 facelift styling with a powertrain built for long-term durability. While many patrols on the market have exceeded 150,000 km, this example sits at a reasonable mileage for its age, especially considering the highway-heavy nature of UAE driving. The white exterior is the region's most practical choice, offering superior heat reflection and maintaining the highest resale demand. As a GCC-spec vehicle, it is fully optimized for the extreme summer temperatures and serves as the definitive family workhorse for both city commuting and weekend desert excursions. The SE T2 trim provides the essential tech upgrades that elevate the daily driving experience without the complexity of higher-tier air suspension systems.

This Car vs Other 2020 Patrols

With 115,000 km, this vehicle has averaged approximately 28,000 km per year, which is typical for a family SUV in the UAE where long-distance commuting is common. The white exterior is a significant advantage in the local market, ensuring better cabin temperature control during summer and stronger value retention compared to darker tones. It remains mechanically relevant as part of the significant 2020 facelift generation, featuring the modern V-motion aesthetic.

SE T2 vs Lower Trims

The SE T2 trim is a substantial step up from the base XE, adding high-demand features like a power sunroof and a remote engine starter—an essential for pre-cooling the cabin in the GCC heat. It also introduces the dual-display infotainment system with smartphone integration and a powered tailgate for added convenience. Buyers also benefit from the Intelligent Rear View Mirror and a leather-wrapped steering wheel, which are not available on the entry-level variant.

Patrol vs Segment Rivals

Compared to the Toyota Land Cruiser and Chevrolet Tahoe, the Patrol leads with a massive 140-litre fuel tank, providing superior range for cross-country drives to Oman or Saudi Arabia. Its 273 mm ground clearance is among the best in the large SUV segment, offering a distinct advantage for weekend desert driving. The interior space is notably optimized for eight passengers, providing more consistent third-row headroom than its American competitors.

Running Costs & Resale

The 5.6L powertrain is widely regarded for its mechanical simplicity and durability in high-heat environments. Real-world fuel consumption averages around 14.4L/100km on combined cycles, though highway cruising can drop figures closer to 12L/100km. Nissan's authorized service network is one of the most extensive across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait, ensuring parts are always accessible and affordable. The Patrol remains one of the slowest-depreciating vehicles in the GCC, typically retaining a high percentage of its value even after five years.

Performance & Capability

Equipped with a selectable 4WD system and a low-range transfer case, this SUV is a genuine off-road tool capable of tackling soft sand and steep dunes. The 320 horsepower engine provides smooth, linear power delivery that is ideal for overtaking on fast-moving highways like the E11. Its body-on-frame construction and 273 mm of ground clearance ensure it handles rough terrain with confidence while maintaining a refined ride on pavement. The 7-speed automatic transmission is specifically tuned for the torque requirements of both heavy sand and high-speed cruising.

Comfort & Cabin

The eight-seat layout is designed for large families, featuring a dual-zone climate control system with dedicated rear vents that are powerful enough to combat 45°C+ summer peaks. The SE T2 cabin benefits from acoustic glass, which significantly reduces wind and road noise during long-distance drives across the Emirates. With all rows in use, the cabin remains airy, and the inclusion of a sunroof and remote start makes it perfectly adapted for the local climate. A cooled centre console box is standard, keeping refreshments cold during long desert trips.

Safety

Standard safety features for this trim include a comprehensive airbag system covering all three rows and a high-resolution rearview camera with front and rear parking sensors. Crucial for GCC highways, it features cruise control and a tire pressure monitoring system to manage heat-related pressure changes. The vehicle is also equipped with Hill Start Assist and Hill Descent Control, which provide additional security when navigating steep dunes or mountainous terrain in the northern Emirates.

The bottom line

For the buyer seeking the iconic 'Hero of All Terrains' without the premium price of a V8 LE, this SE T2 offers the perfect mix of facelift styling, essential GCC comforts, and proven reliability.
