Summary

This 2020 Patrol LE Platinum City represents the top-tier luxury trim of the region’s most iconic SUV. With its powerful 400 hp V8, it offers a distinct performance advantage over the V6 variants, making it a favorite for high-speed highway cruising and serious desert driving. Its white exterior remains the strongest resale color in the GCC, ensuring it holds value exceptionally well in the local market. For a six-year-old vehicle, the mileage is consistent with typical GCC long-distance usage, reflecting its reliability as a primary family vehicle. This specific trim provides the most complete combination of executive comfort and legendary off-road hardware available in the Y62 generation.

This Car vs Other 2020 Patrols

In the GCC market, large SUVs like the Patrol typically cover 20,000 to 25,000 km annually due to frequent inter-emirate travel. At 139,000 km over six years, this vehicle sits right within the expected average for a well-utilized family car in the region. The white exterior is the most sought-after color in the UAE and Saudi Arabia, offering a clear advantage for future resale value and better heat reflection during peak summer months.

LE PLATINUM CITY vs Lower Trims

The LE Platinum City is the flagship of the Patrol range, adding significant luxury and technology over the LE Titanium. It features diamond-stitched quilted leather, a 13-speaker Bose premium audio system, and 20-inch machine-cut alloy wheels. Crucially for the GCC climate, it includes a factory-fitted refrigerator in the center console and ventilated front seats, features that are often absent or optional on lower-tier V6 and V8 trims.

Patrol vs Segment Rivals

The Patrol leads its primary rival, the Toyota Land Cruiser, in on-road refinement and interior technology, particularly with its dual-screen infotainment system. Its 140-liter fuel tank is one of the largest in its class, providing superior range for long desert expeditions compared to the Chevrolet Tahoe or Ford Expedition. Additionally, the Patrol's Hydraulic Body Motion Control (HBMC) system provides a more stable ride on winding mountain roads and highways than its American competitors.

Running Costs & Resale

The 5.6L V8 is a robust powertrain designed for GCC conditions, typically seeing fuel consumption of 16–18 L/100km in mixed driving and up to 22 L/100km in heavy stop-start city traffic. Service intervals are standardized at 10,000 km across an extensive network of authorized centers in all GCC states. Historically, the Patrol LE Platinum City retains approximately 60% of its value after five years, making it one of the most financially sound luxury SUV purchases in the local used market.

Performance & Capability

With 400 hp and 560 Nm of torque, this V8 powerhouse handles highway overtaking with ease even when fully loaded with eight passengers. Its advanced All-Mode 4WD system includes selectable modes for sand, on-road, snow, and rock, paired with a rear differential lock for genuine desert capability. The vehicle’s 273 mm ground clearance and 3,500 kg towing capacity make it equally suitable for weekend dune bashing or hauling heavy trailers across the emirates.

Comfort & Cabin

The interior is designed for eight-passenger luxury, featuring a tri-zone climate control system with dedicated rear vents that can cool the large cabin rapidly in 45°C heat. The Platinum City trim includes rear-seat entertainment screens as standard, keeping family members engaged on long cross-country drives. Extensive acoustic glass and high-grade insulation ensure the cabin remains quiet and shielded from engine noise and exterior heat.

Safety

The 2020 LE Platinum City is equipped with Nissan Intelligent Mobility, a full ADAS suite that includes Intelligent Forward Collision Warning, Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection, and Blind Spot Intervention. These systems are particularly valuable on fast-moving GCC highways. It also features a 360-degree Around View Monitor with Moving Object Detection, which is essential for maneuvering an SUV of this size in tight urban parking areas.

The bottom line

This is the ideal choice for a GCC family that needs a no-compromise SUV capable of luxury city commuting and rugged desert exploration. Finding a top-spec Platinum City in the region's best resale color makes this a highly secure investment in the current market.
