Summary

This 2021 Hyundai Palisade in the range-topping Premium Nappa trim offers a high-luxury family experience that rivals more expensive German alternatives. Its silver exterior is not only a practical choice for the GCC heat but also ensures strong resale demand in the local market. With the smooth 3.8L V6 engine and All-Wheel Drive, it provides the effortless power needed for both daily school runs and long-distance travel between emirates. The cabin is exceptionally well-insulated, and the top-tier specification includes every comfort feature a GCC driver could want, from ventilated seating across two rows to advanced safety tech. This is a refined, reliable workhorse for families who prioritize safety and summer comfort without the premium brand service costs.

This Car vs Other 2021 Palisades

At 108,588 km, this vehicle has been driven an average of roughly 27,000 km per year, which is typical for a family SUV in the GCC where highway commutes are long. The silver exterior is a top-tier choice for the region, reflecting heat efficiently and maintaining its value better than darker shades. Mechanically, the 3.8L V6 is known for its longevity, making this a stable choice for a second owner.

PREMIUM NAPPA vs Lower Trims

The Premium Nappa trim transforms the Palisade from a standard SUV into a luxury cruiser by adding quilted Nappa leather upholstery and a microsuede headliner. Critically for the GCC, this trim includes ventilated seats for both the front and second-row passengers, a feature rarely found in lower specs. You also gain a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a larger 10.25-inch infotainment screen, and a premium Harman Kardon audio system.

Palisade vs Segment Rivals

The Palisade leads the Kia Telluride and Honda Pilot in cabin tech and material quality, offering a near-luxury feel that rivals usually charge more for. Its HTRAC All-Wheel Drive system includes a dedicated Snow mode and AWD Lock, providing better stability on loose sand or gravel compared to basic crossovers. The interior space is notably better optimized for adult passengers in the third row than the Toyota Highlander.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption averages around 10.4 L/100km combined, though highway cruising at 120 km/h often sees better efficiency. Hyundai has one of the most extensive authorized service networks across the UAE and Saudi Arabia, ensuring parts are affordable and specialized technicians are always reachable. The Palisade has shown strong value retention in the UAE, typically depreciating less than European rivals in the same size category.

Performance & Capability

The 291 hp V6 engine delivers a smooth, naturally aspirated power delivery that is ideal for high-speed highway overtaking and heavy passenger loads. While it is road-biased, the 203 mm ground clearance and multi-terrain modes (Sand, Mud, Snow) make it capable for weekend beach trips or gravel paths. It also boasts a 2,268 kg braked towing capacity, making it a viable option for hauling jet skis or small trailers.

Comfort & Cabin

The 7-seat configuration features second-row captain's chairs, creating a walkthrough to the rear and providing business-class comfort for middle passengers. Triple-zone climate control with dedicated roof vents ensures the cabin cools down rapidly even during peak UAE summer months. Dual sunroofs and acoustic glass further enhance the sense of space and quietness during long cross-country drives.

Safety

Standard safety tech on this trim is comprehensive, featuring a 360-degree Surround View Monitor that makes parking this large SUV effortless. The suite includes Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance, Lane Following Assist, and Safe Exit Assist, which prevents rear doors from opening if an approaching vehicle is detected. Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop & Go is particularly useful for reducing fatigue during heavy traffic on the E11 or long highway stretches.

The bottom line

This Palisade is the ideal choice for a growing family in the GCC looking for maximum luxury and safety features without the high maintenance costs of a premium badge.
