Mercedes Benz CLA250 PREMIUM

Highlights

• 0–100 km/h in 6.3 seconds
• 460 litres boot space
• Dual 10.25-inch displays standard

Summary

This 2021 premium sedan represents a smart entry into the luxury segment, balancing athletic performance with the prestige of the three-pointed star. With mileage well below the GCC annual average, it offers significantly more mechanical longevity than typical examples of this age. The silver exterior is a top-tier choice for the region, known for both its heat-deflecting properties and strong resale demand across the Emirates. Unlike its front-wheel-drive base counterparts, this model features 4MATIC all-wheel drive, providing superior stability during high-speed highway commutes and sudden rain showers. It stands as a refined alternative for those who find the C-Class footprint too large but refuse to compromise on cutting-edge cabin technology.

This Car vs Other 2021 CLA250s

At just over 47,000 km, this vehicle has been driven significantly less than the typical 60,000–75,000 km expected for a three-year-old car in the UAE. The silver paintwork is one of the most practical choices for the local climate, showing less dust than darker shades and maintaining a higher residual value. As an American spec model, it offers a similar feature set to local units but at a more accessible entry point for buyers looking for the Premium package.

PREMIUM vs Lower Trims

The Premium trim is a substantial step up, replacing the standard 7-inch displays with a pair of high-resolution 10.25-inch screens for the instrument cluster and MBUX infotainment. It also adds essential convenience features like power-folding side mirrors and auto-dimming mirrors, which are highly valued in tight city parking. Additionally, this trim includes blind-spot monitoring as standard, providing a critical safety layer for fast-paced GCC highway traffic.

CLA250 vs Segment Rivals

The CLA250 leads the Audi A3 and BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe in pure aesthetic drama, offering a pillarless door design and a more aggressive 'shark-nose' profile. Its MBUX interface is widely considered the most intuitive in the segment, featuring natural language voice control that responds to 'Hey Mercedes.' The inclusion of standard all-wheel drive gives it a traction advantage over many base-spec European rivals typically found in the market.

Running Costs & Resale

Expect a combined fuel consumption of approximately 8.3 L/100km, though this will rise in heavy Dubai or Riyadh stop-start traffic. Service intervals typically fall every 15,000 km, and while authorized centers are plentiful in major cities, parts availability is excellent through various specialist networks across the UAE. While American spec vehicles experience slightly faster initial depreciation than GCC spec units, the lower entry price often balances the total cost of ownership.

Performance & Capability

The 2.0L turbocharged engine delivers 221 hp, allowing for a swift 0–100 km/h sprint of just 6.3 seconds. Power is managed by a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission that provides rapid gear changes, perfect for overtaking on the E11. The 4MATIC system constantly monitors traction, ensuring power is directed to the wheels with the most grip, which is particularly useful when navigating sandy road shoulders or wet pavement.

Comfort & Cabin

Inside, the cabin is defined by its 64-color ambient lighting and sport-contoured seats that provide excellent support during long cross-country drives. The dual-zone climate control is engineered to handle extreme summer heat, while the 460-litre boot provides ample room for weekly shopping or weekend getaways. Acoustic insulation is high for its class, keeping the interior quiet even at sustained highway speeds.

Safety

Standard safety equipment is comprehensive, featuring Active Brake Assist and eight airbags to protect all occupants. The Blind Spot Assist with Exit Warning is particularly useful in multi-lane traffic, alerting you to approaching vehicles before you open your door. Adaptive braking technology and an electronic stability program come standard, providing peace of mind during unpredictable driving conditions.

The bottom line

This low-mileage CLA250 Premium is the ideal choice for a young professional seeking a high-tech, stylish sedan that is easier to park than a full-size executive car while retaining all the prestige of the Mercedes-Benz brand.
