Summary

This 2022 Ford Edge SE offers a compelling balance of modern technology and practical cabin space, making it a standout choice for families in the GCC. With mileage currently sitting at an average level for its age, it remains mechanically fresh for the region's long-distance highway demands. The white exterior is the most sought-after color for resale in the UAE and Saudi markets, providing excellent heat reflection and value retention. In a segment often crowded with three-row options, the Edge focuses on providing superior legroom and cargo capacity for five occupants. Its GCC-specific tuning ensures the air conditioning and cooling systems are fully prepared for the extreme summer heat common across the Emirates.

This Car vs Other 2022 Ford Edges

With 63,654 km on the odometer, this Edge has been driven approximately 21,000 km per year, which aligns perfectly with the typical GCC annual average of 20,000–25,000 km. Unlike many American-spec imports found in the market, this is a genuine GCC-spec vehicle, ensuring full compatibility with local service centers and a higher resale floor. The white paintwork is a significant advantage in this region, as it is the fastest-selling color on the used market.

SE vs Lower Trims

As the foundational trim for 2022, the SE is surprisingly well-equipped, coming standard with the massive 12-inch vertical touchscreen that was previously reserved for higher grades. It features the Ford Co-Pilot360 suite as standard, providing critical driver aids that many rivals only offer in mid-range packages. Choosing the SE allows buyers to access the same refined 2.0L EcoBoost powertrain and spacious chassis as the SEL without the premium cost of synthetic leather or a sunroof.

Edge vs Segment Rivals

The Ford Edge leads competitors like the Nissan Murano and Honda Pilot in terms of standard infotainment size and modern cabin layout. While many rivals try to squeeze in a cramped third row, the Edge prioritizes class-leading second-row legroom and a massive cargo area, which is more practical for most GCC families. Its turbocharged engine offers more low-end torque than the naturally aspirated V6 engines found in the Toyota Highlander, making highway overtaking effortless.

Running Costs & Resale

The 2.0L EcoBoost engine is designed to handle GCC stop-start traffic efficiently while maintaining a respectable 9.8 km/L on the highway. Service intervals are typically set at 10,000 km, and Ford’s extensive authorized network across the UAE and wider GCC ensures parts are readily available and affordable. The Edge maintains a steady depreciation curve of roughly 12–15% annually, outperforming many European crossovers in the same price bracket due to its reputation for reliability.

Performance & Capability

Delivering 251 hp, the Edge provides a refined and quiet driving experience that is well-suited for the long stretches of highway between Abu Dhabi and Dubai. The 8-speed automatic transmission is tuned for smooth shifts, ensuring comfort during heavy traffic commutes in Riyadh or Doha. While this is a front-wheel-drive SUV focused on road comfort, its 203 mm ground clearance is ample for handling speed bumps and gravel tracks during weekend family outings.

Comfort & Cabin

The interior is dominated by a 12-inch touchscreen featuring wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a high-tech touch rarely found in base models. Dual-zone automatic climate control is standard, featuring powerful blowers and dedicated rear vents to keep all five passengers cool during 45°C summers. The acoustic windshield and side windows significantly reduce road noise, providing a serene environment for cross-country road trips.

Safety

Safety is a primary focus for the Edge, which carries a 5-star NHTSA rating. The standard Ford Co-Pilot360 suite includes Blind Spot Monitoring and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, which are essential for navigating the fast-moving multi-lane highways of the GCC. Additionally, Lane-Keeping Assist and Pre-Collision Assist with Automatic Emergency Braking provide an extra layer of protection for city driving and long-distance travel.

The bottom line

For a GCC buyer seeking a modern, tech-forward family SUV without the 'fully loaded' price tag, this white Edge SE is a smart, market-aligned opportunity.
