Summary

This 2022 Hyundai Tucson Smart offers an exceptional balance of modern design and urban practicality, making it a standout choice in the GCC used market. With mileage that reflects typical careful commuting across the UAE, it remains mechanically fresh and ready for long-term ownership. The Grey exterior is a highly sought-after, high-resale color in the region, resisting the visible effects of desert dust better than darker tones. Compared to its rivals, the Tucson leads with its futuristic styling and a cabin that feels a generation ahead of more conservative competitors. For the GCC buyer, this represents a trouble-free entry into a current-generation SUV with a massive service network to back it up.

This Car vs Other 2022 Tucsons

With 52,644 km on the odometer, this Tucson has been driven approximately 17,500 km per year, which is significantly lower than the GCC annual average of 20,000–25,000 km. This lower-than-average usage makes it a prime candidate for buyers looking for a vehicle with plenty of remaining life. The Grey finish is one of the most practical and popular colors in the local market, ensuring it holds its value better than unique or niche shades at resale time.

SMART vs Lower Trims

The SMART trim serves as the technology-forward mid-range choice, adding essential features that GCC buyers prioritize over the base models. It introduces the upgraded infotainment interface with wireless smartphone integration and a more refined interior layout. While lower trims stick to basic cabin materials, the SMART trim provides enhanced driver-assist features and better upholstery, making it the 'sweet spot' for resale value in the UAE.

Tucson vs Segment Rivals

The Tucson frequently competes with the Toyota RAV4 and Kia Sportage. It leads the segment in terms of cargo versatility, offering up to 1,076 liters of boot space with the rear seats up, which is superior to many rivals for family grocery runs or airport trips. Additionally, the Tucson’s cabin cooling system is widely regarded as one of the most efficient for the extreme 45°C+ summer heat compared to American-market alternatives.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the 2.0L engine typically averages 8.1 L/100km, offering excellent efficiency for both stop-start Dubai traffic and long Abu Dhabi highway runs. Hyundai has one of the most extensive authorized service networks across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Oman, keeping maintenance costs low and parts readily available. In the GCC, the Tucson enjoys strong value retention, typically depreciating at a slower rate than its European rivals, making it a safe financial choice for a 3-to-5-year ownership cycle.

Performance & Capability

The 2.0L Smartstream engine delivers 156 hp and 192 Nm of torque, providing a smooth and linear power delivery ideal for urban environments. While optimized for fuel efficiency, the front-wheel-drive setup offers stable handling on the wide, fast-moving highways of the Emirates. With 181 mm of ground clearance, it easily handles sand-blown roads and high speed bumps found in residential communities.

Comfort & Cabin

The interior was completely redesigned for this generation, focusing on a 'hidden tech' aesthetic that maximizes passenger space. The five-seat layout provides generous legroom for adults in both rows, while the rear cooling vents ensure all passengers stay comfortable during the peak of summer. The cabin is well-insulated from exterior wind noise, providing a refined environment for long cross-emirate commutes.

Safety

Safety is a primary strength, as evidenced by the model's 5-star Euro NCAP rating. Standard equipment on this trim includes multiple airbags, Electronic Stability Control, and ISOFIX mounts for child seats. For GCC highway driving, the inclusion of Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist and Lane Keeping Assist provides an essential extra layer of protection during high-speed traffic flows.

The bottom line

For a family or professional seeking a low-mileage, current-generation SUV in a resale-friendly color, this Tucson Smart is the most logical and safe investment in the current market.
