Summary

This 2022 Defender 110 Carpathian Edition represents the pinnacle of the modern Defender lineup, pairing a 525 hp supercharged V8 with a unique factory-satin finish. With 77,000 km, this European-spec example has been utilized primarily for highway travel, placing it in a well-maintained category for its age in the GCC. The P525 powertrain offers a level of performance that fundamentally changes the character of the vehicle compared to the standard four and six-cylinder models. Finished in Carpathian Grey with the signature black contrast hood and tail door, it holds strong resale appeal for buyers seeking a flagship SUV that balances collector-grade trim with genuine off-road hardware. For the GCC owner, this trim provides the essential cooling and comfort features needed to handle local summers without compromising on its iconic desert-ready capability.

This Car vs Other 2022 Defender 110s

At 77,000 km, this Defender has seen regular use consistent with the high-mileage highway commuting typical in the UAE and wider GCC, where annual averages often reach 25,000 km. While many entry-level P300 and P400 models were used as daily city runabouts, the Carpathian Edition V8 is often selected by enthusiasts for long-distance cruising. The factory-applied Satin Protective Film on this model is a significant advantage in the local climate, offering better resistance to sand-pitting and heat than standard gloss finishes.

CARPATHIAN EDITION P525 vs Lower Trims

The Carpathian Edition adds a bespoke aesthetic and performance layer above the standard V8 and X-Dynamic trims, featuring exclusive Carpathian Grey premium metallic paint and a black contrast bonnet. Inside, it upgrades the experience with 14-way heated and cooled electric memory seats finished in Windsor leather and Dinamica suedecloth, alongside a standard Head-Up Display and the ClearSight digital rearview mirror. Mechanically, the P525 trim introduces a dedicated Dynamic program within Terrain Response 2 and an Electronic Active Rear Differential, providing sharper handling on paved roads compared to the softer setup of the HSE.

Defender 110 vs Segment Rivals

The Defender 110 V8 stands apart from rivals like the Mercedes-AMG G63 and the Toyota Land Cruiser 300 GR-Sport by offering a monocoque chassis that delivers superior high-speed highway refinement. While the G-Wagon leads in pure status, the Defender’s 900 mm wading depth and advanced independent air suspension offer a more composed ride across the diverse terrains of the Emirates. Its 90-litre fuel tank is specifically suited for long-range desert expeditions and cross-border drives where refueling points can be sparse.

Running Costs & Resale

The 5.0L supercharged V8 typically returns between 14.7 and 15.1 L/100km in combined cycles, though GCC city traffic will see higher consumption; it requires high-octane premium fuel to maintain performance. Land Rover's authorized service network is extensive across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait, with recommended service intervals every 12 months or 26,000 km. As a range-topping special edition, the Carpathian Edition retains value significantly better than base models in the GCC market, where V8 flagships remain the most sought-after configurations for resale.

Performance & Capability

The supercharged V8 delivers 525 hp and 625 Nm of torque, enabling a top speed of 240 km/h and effortless overtaking on fast-moving motorways. The Electronic Air Suspension can raise the vehicle to provide a maximum ground clearance of 291 mm, making it exceptionally capable for weekend dune bashing or rocky wadi exploration. The inclusion of All-Terrain Progress Control acts as a low-speed cruise control for difficult surfaces, ensuring maximum traction even for drivers less experienced in technical off-roading.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is tailored for the GCC climate, featuring a three-zone climate control system with rear cooling assist to ensure all five passengers remain comfortable in extreme heat. The 700W Meridian Surround Sound System and acoustic glass provide a quiet, high-fidelity environment that masks exterior wind noise during high-speed travel. Practical touches like the cooled center console refrigerator and ventilated front seats are standard, providing essential relief during the summer months.

Safety

This trim is equipped with a comprehensive safety suite including a 3D Surround Camera with Wade Sensing, which is vital for navigating deep water or tight obstacles. Standard active safety features include Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keep Assist, and Blind Spot Assist, which are particularly useful for the multi-lane highway driving common in Dubai and Riyadh. The vehicle also features a 5-star Euro NCAP safety rating, supported by six airbags and advanced stability systems designed to prevent rollovers during sudden maneuvers.

The bottom line

This is a rare opportunity to own a top-tier V8 Defender in the most desirable factory finish, offering a perfect blend of high-speed luxury and unmatched off-road heritage for the discerning GCC buyer.
