Summary

This 2022 Nissan Patrol in its SE Platinum City trim offers the perfect balance for a UAE buyer who values the prestige of the Platinum grade with the improved fuel efficiency of the 4.0L V6. As a GCC-spec model, it is specifically engineered with the heavy-duty cooling systems required for the region's extreme summer heat. The Grey exterior is a highly practical choice for the Gulf, masking dust well while maintaining strong resale demand alongside traditional white and black options. With mileage that reflects typical highway use between emirates, this vehicle remains a robust choice for families needing 7-seat versatility and legendary off-road hardware. The Patrol remains a cultural icon in the GCC, ensuring a vast service network and parts availability from Dubai to Salalah.

This Car vs Other 2022 Nissan Patrols

With 89,655 km, this vehicle's mileage is consistent with the higher annual averages seen in the GCC, where long-distance highway commutes are the norm. It presents a balanced opportunity to own a current-generation Y62 facelift model that has been broken in on regional roads but remains well within its primary service life. The Grey exterior is one of the most resilient colors for the local climate, holding its value exceptionally well in the UAE used market.

SE PLATINUM CITY vs Lower Trims

The SE Platinum City trim significantly upgrades the cabin experience over the SE Titanium, featuring genuine quilted leather upholstery and a 12-way power-adjustable driver’s seat with a massage function. Technology-wise, it adds the essential 360° Around View Monitor and an off-road monitor, providing much better visibility during tight city parking or weekend desert drives. You also get the premium 13-speaker Bose audio system and wood-grain interior accents that are not standard on base V6 variants.

Nissan Patrol vs Segment Rivals

Compared to the Toyota Land Cruiser 4.0L, the Nissan Patrol offers a significantly larger 140-litre fuel tank, providing a superior cruising range for long cross-border drives. While rivals focus on utility, the Patrol SE Platinum City leads in interior refinement with its dual-screen infotainment setup and superior seat ventilation performance. Its independent rear suspension also provides a more composed and comfortable ride on paved highways compared to the more rigid setups found in traditional American competitors.

Running Costs & Resale

The 4.0L V6 engine is tuned for 95-octane fuel and offers a combined fuel consumption of approximately 11.8 L/100km, which is notably more economical for daily Dubai traffic than the larger V8. Service intervals are typically every 10,000 km, supported by one of the most extensive authorized service networks across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Oman. The Patrol holds some of the highest resale values in the region, typically depreciating at just 8-10% annually, making it a very safe financial asset for a used car buyer.

Performance & Capability

The 4.0L V6 produces 275 hp and 394 Nm of torque, paired with a smooth 7-speed automatic transmission that is ideal for effortless highway overtaking. For off-road enthusiasts, it retains a full low-range transfer case and a selectable terrain mode system including Sand, Rock, and Snow modes. The 272 mm ground clearance and specialized 'City' bumper ensure it can handle both high curbs and moderate desert dunes with ease during family weekend adventures.

Comfort & Cabin

This 7-seater is designed for the Gulf summer, featuring a powerful multi-zone climate control system with dedicated rear vents that can cool the large cabin rapidly. The front seats are both heated and ventilated, a critical feature for comfort during the peak UAE summer months. Passengers also benefit from a built-in refrigerator in the center console, perfect for keeping drinks cold on long road trips between cities.

Safety

This trim comes equipped with Nissan’s full Safety Shield suite, featuring Intelligent Cruise Control and Blind Spot Warning, which are essential for navigating fast-moving multi-lane highways like Sheikh Zayed Road. It also includes Forward Collision Warning and Automated Emergency Braking as standard. The 360° Around View Monitor is particularly helpful in this large SUV, providing a bird's-eye view to help avoid obstacles in crowded urban environments.

The bottom line

This 2022 Patrol is the ideal choice for a family looking for the premium 'Platinum' look and luxury features without the higher daily fuel costs of the V8. It represents a stable investment in a legendary GCC-spec platform that is as capable in the dunes as it is comfortable on the highway.
