Summary

This 2022 Nissan Patrol Super Safari is a 4-year-old icon of the GCC landscape, offering a specific blend of mechanical simplicity and desert prowess that newer SUVs often lack. The Super Safari trim is highly coveted in the used market for its premium leather interior and added conveniences over the base Safari, all while retaining the legendary 4.8L powertrain. In a region where white is the undisputed king of resale colors, this example is perfectly positioned for its next owner. Its mileage is consistent with a car that has been used as intended for inter-city travel and weekend desert excursions. For the GCC buyer, the primary value here lies in the vehicle's bulletproof reliability and the peace of mind provided by Nissan's massive local service footprint.

This Car vs Other 2022 Patrols

With 63,637 km on the odometer, this Super Safari has been driven slightly less than the typical 20,000–25,000 km annual average for the UAE, making it a low-mileage option for a 4-year-old vehicle. While the more modern Y62 Patrol offers more luxury, the Y61 series—specifically in Super Safari trim—retains its value far more aggressively due to its reputation for off-road durability. The white exterior is the statistically strongest resale color in the GCC, ensuring maximum interest when it comes time to trade up.

SUPER SAFARI vs Lower Trims

The Super Safari trim significantly elevates the cabin experience compared to the standard Safari, adding tan leather upholstery and wood-grain interior accents as standard. It also includes the essential 'sub-tank' fuel system, increasing total capacity to 175 litres for massive range. Exterior-wise, you benefit from the distinct Super Safari striping, machine-cut 17-inch alloy wheels, and a factory-fitted rear spoiler that distinguishes it from more utility-focused lower trims.

Patrol vs Segment Rivals

The Super Safari's most direct rival is the Toyota Land Cruiser 70 Series; however, the Nissan offers a significantly more comfortable interior and a more refined 5-speed automatic transmission for daily road use. While modern unibody SUVs offer better fuel efficiency, the Patrol's body-on-frame construction and solid rear axle provide superior durability for genuine desert crossings. Its 4.8L inline-six is often preferred over rival V6 engines for its smooth torque delivery when climbing high dunes.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption averages around 17.2 L/100km, reflecting its role as a heavy-duty 4x4; however, the dual-tank system ensures you aren't constantly at the pump during long drives to Liwa or Salalah. Nissan's authorised service network is one of the most robust in the region, with parts available in almost every town across the UAE and Saudi Arabia. This trim is legendary for its slow depreciation, often holding up to 75% of its value after three years in the GCC market.

Performance & Capability

The TB48DE 4.8L engine produces a robust 451 Nm of torque, specifically tuned for low-end grunt rather than top-end speed, which is ideal for sand recovery and towing up to 3,500 kg. Its selectable 4WD system with a low-range transfer case remains the gold standard for mechanical off-road systems. The high ground clearance and short overhangs allow it to tackle steep dune faces that would damage the bumpers of more modern, road-biased luxury crossovers.

Comfort & Cabin

Inside, the 7-seat layout provides genuine versatility, with a powerful 'super-cool' air conditioning system designed specifically for the 50°C heat of a GCC summer. Rear passengers benefit from dedicated cooling vents, a feature that is essential for family comfort during long afternoon drives. The cabin is insulated from the harsh external environment, providing a surprisingly quiet highway ride despite its rugged off-road credentials.

Safety

Standard safety features on this trim include dual front airbags, an Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), and Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC) to assist with stability on loose surfaces. It also features a tire pressure monitoring system, which is highly useful for GCC drivers who frequently air down their tires for desert driving. While it lacks modern camera suites, its elevated driving position and large glass area provide excellent natural visibility for navigating fast-moving highway traffic.

The bottom line

This Super Safari is the perfect choice for an enthusiast or family that demands a vehicle capable of crossing the Empty Quarter on Friday and handling the school run on Monday. It represents a rare opportunity to own a late-model version of a discontinued icon with manageable mileage and a high-demand GCC specification.
