Summary

This 2022 Porsche 911 TARGA 4GTS is an exceptional find for the GCC enthusiast, combining the unique open-air experience of the Targa roof with the aggressive performance of the GTS trim. With mileage significantly lower than the regional average for a two-year-old vehicle, it presents as a nearly-new example of one of the most desirable 911 variants. The black exterior is not only a timeless choice but remains one of the strongest resale colors in the UAE and wider GCC market, ensuring long-term value retention. While many 911s in the region are base models, the GTS badge signifies a more focused driving experience with upgraded suspension and styling that sets it apart from standard Carreras. This vehicle’s GCC specification is a critical advantage, providing peace of mind regarding cooling systems and warranty support that imported models cannot match. For a buyer seeking a daily-drivable supercar that handles the heat of Dubai or Riyadh as easily as it handles a weekend coastal run, this Targa 4GTS represents a peak ownership opportunity.

This Car vs Other 2022 911s

When looking at the 2022 911 market in the GCC, this specific listing stands out due to its remarkably low mileage. While typical high-performance cars in the UAE often cover 15,000 to 20,000 km annually due to the frequent commutes between Emirates, this vehicle has covered just 18,000 km total in two years. This translates to significantly less wear on the engine components and interior surfaces compared to average market examples. The black-on-black aesthetic is highly sought after in the regional secondary market, often commanding a premium over more experimental colors because of its enduring appeal and ease of resale. Being a GCC-spec vehicle, it has been optimized from the factory for the extreme ambient temperatures of the Middle East, a factor that local buyers prioritize over cheaper North American or European imports. This combination of low usage and regional suitability makes it one of the most protected investments in the current sports car segment.

TARGA 4GTS vs Lower Trims

Choosing the GTS trim over a standard Targa 4 or 4S brings a host of upgrades that GCC drivers value for both performance and prestige. The GTS comes standard with the Sport Chrono Package and a more vocal Sport Exhaust system, providing a visceral soundtrack that is particularly enjoyable when the Targa roof is retracted. Visually, the GTS is distinguished by its Satin Black accents and darkened light clusters, offering a more aggressive stance that resonates with the regional preference for high-end aesthetics. Inside, you benefit from the Race-Tex upholstery and enhanced lateral support in the seats, which feel significantly more premium than the standard leather found in lower trims. Perhaps most importantly, the GTS receives a bespoke suspension setup and larger brakes derived from the 911 Turbo, ensuring that it remains composed during high-speed highway driving in the summer heat. These upgrades are not just about speed; they represent a level of exclusivity and mechanical depth that helps the GTS hold its value better than the base models.

911 vs Segment Rivals

The 911 TARGA 4GTS competes in a rarefied space against rivals like the Maserati GranCabrio and the Aston Martin Vantage Roadster. Where the Porsche leads its peers is in its sheer usability; the air conditioning system is widely regarded as the most robust in its class, capable of maintaining a frigid cabin temperature even when the outside thermometer hits 48°C. The Targa's unique roof mechanism provides the security and insulation of a coupe with the freedom of a convertible, a versatility that soft-top rivals cannot match during the dusty GCC summer months. Furthermore, the 911 offers a 4-seat configuration which, while compact, provides essential extra space for weekend bags or children that two-seater rivals lack. Its 3.0L flat-six engine is famously reliable and easy to service through the extensive Porsche Center network found across Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Riyadh, and Kuwait, offering a level of regional support that boutique Italian or British brands often struggle to replicate.

Running Costs & Resale

Owning a 911 in the GCC is surprisingly manageable compared to other supercars of similar performance. Real-world fuel consumption for the 3.0L twin-turbo engine is efficient during highway cruising across the Emirates, though stop-start traffic in downtown Riyadh or Dubai Marina will naturally see higher consumption. Service intervals are typically every 15,000 km or once a year, and with Porsche’s strong presence in the region, parts are readily available and technicians are highly specialized. Historically, the GTS models have shown the slowest depreciation curves within the 911 range, often retaining up to 80-85% of their value after three years in the GCC market, especially when maintained at authorized service centers. This specific car’s GCC status is a vital asset, as it ensures the vehicle remains eligible for extended warranty programs and service contracts that significantly reduce long-term ownership costs. Buyers can expect a much smoother resale process compared to non-GCC spec cars, which often face steep valuation drops due to concerns over history and heat damage.

Performance & Capability

The heart of this TARGA 4GTS is a 400 hp 3.0L twin-turbocharged flat-six that delivers power with clinical precision. With a 0-100 km/h time consistently clocked under 4 seconds, it offers the kind of acceleration that makes highway merging and overtaking effortless on fast-moving roads like the E11. The automatic PDK transmission is widely considered the best in the industry, providing lightning-fast shifts that adapt to your driving style, whether you are cruising toward Al Ain or pushing the car through the curves of Jebel Hafeet. Despite its performance credentials, the car remains incredibly stable at high speeds thanks to its advanced aerodynamics and all-wheel-drive system, which provides confidence even on sand-blown tarmac. The GTS-specific tuning ensures that the car feels sharper and more connected than a standard Carrera, yet it retains enough ground clearance to handle the speed bumps and ramps found in modern GCC urban environments. This is a machine built for the driver who demands supercar performance without sacrificing the ability to drive it every single day.

Comfort & Cabin

Inside the cabin, the 911 TARGA 4GTS is a masterclass in ergonomic luxury designed to withstand the harsh local climate. The air conditioning is exceptionally powerful, a non-negotiable feature for GCC owners, and the cabin insulation effectively keeps out the desert heat when the roof is closed. The 4-seat layout is perfect for the executive who needs occasional versatility, while the premium materials used throughout the GTS interior provide a tactile sense of quality. A standout feature is the high-tier Burmester or Bose audio system, which delivers crystal-clear sound quality even at highway speeds with the roof open. The integration of Porsche Communication Management (PCM) ensures that navigation and connectivity are seamless, featuring highly accurate local mapping for major GCC cities. The seating position is low and focused, yet the seats themselves are designed for long-distance comfort, making the drive from Dubai to Muscat or Riyadh to Dammam a fatigue-free experience. Every button and dial feels weighted for durability, suggesting a cabin that will look as good in ten years as it does today.

Safety

Safety in the 911 is comprehensive, featuring a suite of driver assistance systems that are particularly useful on the high-speed multi-lane highways of the Middle East. Standard features on this GTS trim include advanced stability and traction control systems that have been calibrated to handle the unique grip levels of sandy or dusty road surfaces. Blind-spot monitoring and lane-keep assist provide an extra layer of security during heavy traffic, while the powerful LED Matrix headlights offer exceptional visibility for night drives across the desert. The Targa's unique roll-over protection bar provides structural integrity that matches its coupe siblings, ensuring peace of mind without compromising the open-air experience. Porsche’s high-performance braking system, borrowed from the Turbo models for the GTS, ensures world-class stopping distances, a crucial safety factor in the unpredictable traffic conditions often found in major regional hubs. These systems work together silently in the background, allowing the driver to focus on the road while knowing the car is equipped with some of the most advanced safety tech in the automotive world.

The bottom line

This GCC-spec TARGA 4GTS is the perfect acquisition for a buyer who wants the most versatile 911 variant in a high-value, low-mileage package. It combines the prestige of the GTS trim with the iconic Targa silhouette, making it a rare and highly liquid asset in the regional used car market.
