Summary

This GCC-spec Land Cruiser GXR offers the ideal balance of the new 300-series platform and real-world value, featuring the potent twin-turbo V6 that replaced the aging V8. With mileage sitting well below the typical GCC annual average for an SUV of this caliber, it represents a high-integrity purchase for those who prioritize long-term durability. The Attitude Black exterior remains the most coveted resale color in the region, ensuring your investment is protected when it's time to upgrade. Whether navigating city traffic in Riyadh or cruising between Emirates, this trim provides the essential tech suite without the inflated premium of the higher grades. It is a quintessential choice for the regional buyer who demands legendary reliability and modern performance in one package.

This Car vs Other 2022 Land Cruisers

With just over 46,000 km, this vehicle has been driven significantly less than the typical 25,000 km per year average seen in the GCC market. While many 2022 models are now approaching the 75,000 km mark, this example retains a much fresher mechanical profile. The black exterior is a primary value-driver in the local used market, consistently fetching higher resale prices compared to niche colors.

GXR vs Lower Trims

The GXR trim is a significant step up from the base EXR, introducing more premium cabin materials and a vital safety upgrade. It adds Toyota Safety Sense features, including Dynamic Radar Cruise Control and a Pre-Collision System, which are essential for high-speed highway commuting. Inside, you benefit from synthetic leather upholstery and a power-adjustable driver’s seat that enhances comfort on cross-border drives.

Land Cruiser vs Segment Rivals

Compared to the Nissan Patrol Y62, the Land Cruiser 300 Series offers a more modern 10-speed automatic transmission and superior fuel efficiency from its twin-turbocharged V6. It also leads the segment in long-distance range thanks to its massive 110-litre fuel tank, reducing the frequency of stops during desert expeditions. The Land Cruiser remains the regional benchmark for resale value retention, typically outperforming competitors like the Chevrolet Tahoe.

Running Costs & Resale

The 3.5L twin-turbo V6 is designed to run efficiently on local fuel grades, returning approximately 10.1 km/L under mixed GCC driving conditions. Owners benefit from the most extensive authorized service network in the region, with parts available in every major city from Muscat to Kuwait City. Historically, a GCC-spec Land Cruiser retains roughly 80% of its value after three years, making it one of the safest financial assets in the automotive world.

Performance & Capability

The 409 hp output provides effortless overtaking power on 140 km/h highways, a task the previous generation's V8 found more labor-intensive. Its 3,500 kg towing capacity makes it a primary choice for hauling boats or trailers to the coast. Standard off-road hardware including a low-range transfer case and Crawl Control ensures it remains a genuine desert-conquering tool despite its luxury appointments.

Comfort & Cabin

The seven-seat layout is supported by a powerful multi-zone climate control system engineered specifically to combat 50°C summer heat. Strategically placed rear vents ensure all passengers remain cool, while the GXR’s upgraded cabin insulation provides a quiet sanctuary from road noise. The integrated 9-inch infotainment system with smartphone connectivity keeps the family entertained during long weekend road trips.

Safety

This trim is equipped with a comprehensive safety suite including 10 airbags and advanced driver assistance. Features like Blind Spot Monitoring and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert are particularly effective in the fast-paced, multi-lane traffic common in Dubai and Doha. The inclusion of Lane Departure Alert and Adaptive High Beam technology provides added confidence during nocturnal desert highway travel.

The bottom line

For the buyer who wants the performance of the new 300-series Land Cruiser with lower-than-average mileage and the best possible resale color, this GCC-spec GXR is the smartest mid-spec opportunity currently available.
