Summary

This 2022 Toyota Land Cruiser GXR represents the first year of the revolutionary 300-series, making it a highly sought-after model in the GCC pre-owned market. With its current mileage positioned perfectly for a vehicle of this age in the region, it offers a balanced mix of proven reliability and modern twin-turbo performance. The white exterior is the gold standard for resale value across the UAE and wider GCC, ensuring high demand and price stability for years to come. In the GXR trim, you receive the essential blend of luxury amenities and the legendary off-road hardware that has made this model a staple from Dubai to Riyadh. It stands out from rivals by offering an unmatched service network and a reputation for indestructible build quality that competitors simply cannot mirror. For a GCC buyer, this specific listing represents an opportunity to own the region's favorite SUV with its most desirable engine configuration while skirting the initial steep depreciation of a brand-new showroom unit.

This Car vs Other 2022 Land Cruisers

At 69,000 km, this vehicle has been driven approximately 23,000 km per year, which aligns perfectly with the GCC average of 20,000 to 25,000 km annually for a primary family SUV. While some units on the market may show lower figures, those often come from city-only use which can lead to more wear on the braking system and transmission through stop-start cycles; this mileage suggests healthy highway use between Emirates, which is ideal for the 3.5L twin-turbo engine's longevity. The white paint is the most practical choice for our climate, reflecting heat more efficiently than darker shades and maintaining a like-new appearance far longer under the intense sun. Compared to other 2022 models, this unit benefits from being a GCC-spec vehicle, ensuring it has the high-capacity cooling system and filters designed specifically for our dusty, high-heat environment. Choosing this particular vehicle means you are getting a well-maintained example that has already passed its initial 'break-in' period and is ready for another decade of service without the premium price tag of a zero-meter car.

GXR vs Lower Trims

Stepping up to the GXR trim from the base EXR provides a significant jump in both aesthetic presence and cabin technology that GCC buyers deeply value. This trim introduces the larger, more imposing alloy wheels and signature LED lighting signatures that define the modern 300-series look on the road. Inside, the GXR adds critical comfort features like an upgraded infotainment interface and enhanced seat materials that are better suited for long-distance desert drives. You also benefit from a more comprehensive parking assistance suite, often including a high-definition 360-degree camera system that makes navigating tight mall parking in Dubai or Abu Dhabi surprisingly easy for an SUV of this size. More importantly, the GXR often includes the wireless charging pad and upgraded climate control zones, ensuring every passenger remains comfortable during the peak of summer. It is the 'sweet spot' in the lineup, offering the premium feel of the VXR without the astronomical price jump, making it the smartest choice for long-term value retention.

Land Cruiser vs Segment Rivals

When compared to rivals like the Nissan Patrol or the Land Rover Defender, the Land Cruiser GXR holds a unique position as the regional benchmark for durability. While the Patrol offers a traditional V8 experience, this 3.5L twin-turbo V6 provides more torque at lower RPMs, which is a major advantage when climbing steep dunes in Liwa or overtaking on the E11 highway. The Land Cruiser also boasts a 110-liter fuel capacity, significantly aiding long-range travel across the borders into Saudi Arabia or Oman where fuel stops can be infrequent. Unlike European rivals that often require specialized diagnostic tools available only in major cities, the Toyota can be serviced by experts in practically any town across the seven Emirates. Its cooling system is widely regarded as the most robust in the industry, capable of maintaining a freezing cabin temperature even when the outside thermometer hits 50°C. The sheer volume of these vehicles on the road also ensures that should you ever need it, parts are available off-the-shelf at a fraction of the cost of its luxury competitors.

Running Costs & Resale

Owning a Land Cruiser GXR in the GCC is perhaps the safest financial decision one can make in the automotive world. These vehicles notoriously have the lowest depreciation rate in the class, typically losing only 8-10% of their value annually compared to the 15-20% seen in premium European SUVs. Fuel consumption for the 3.5L twin-turbo is improved over the older V8 models, averaging around 9.3 km/L on the highway, which is impressive for a 409 hp 4x4. Service intervals are every 10,000 km, and with the most extensive authorized service network in the region (Al Futtaim in the UAE, Saud Bahwan in Oman, and Abdul Latif Jameel in KSA), maintaining the car is seamless regardless of where you are located. Because this is a GCC-spec model, it will always command a premium at resale time over American or European imports, which often face insurance and warranty hurdles. After three years of ownership, you can expect this vehicle to retain a significant portion of its original purchase price, essentially lowering your total cost of ownership to a level that no other luxury SUV can match.

Performance & Capability

The heart of this 2022 GXR is the 3.5L twin-turbo V6, which produces a staggering 409 horsepower and 650 Nm of torque, allowing it to hit 100 km/h in roughly 6.7 seconds. This performance is particularly noticeable when you need to merge quickly onto high-speed highways or when navigating the soft sands of the UAE's interior. The 10-speed automatic transmission is a masterpiece of engineering, keeping the engine in its power band while maximizing fuel efficiency on the long cruise to Al Ain. Off-road, the Land Cruiser remains the king, featuring a genuine low-range transfer case and advanced traction management systems like Crawl Control and Turn Assist. With a ground clearance of 235 mm, it clears obstacles that would grounded lesser crossovers, making it the perfect companion for weekend camping trips or wadi exploration. It is a vehicle designed to be just as comfortable crawling over rocks as it is cruising at 140 km/h on the highway, provided with a level of mechanical confidence that is second to none.

Comfort & Cabin

The interior of the Land Cruiser GXR is a masterclass in functional luxury, designed to accommodate seven passengers in total comfort. The seating arrangement is highly flexible, with the third row now folding flat into the floor, a major improvement in this generation that significantly increases boot space for family airport runs. Toyota’s legendary air conditioning system features multiple zones and dedicated rear vents, ensuring that even passengers in the very back stay cool during July and August. Cabin insulation has been vastly improved over previous generations, resulting in a whisper-quiet ride that rivals' dedicated luxury brands, even when traveling at high speeds. High-quality materials are used throughout the touchpoints, and the infotainment system is crisp and responsive, featuring the essential smartphone integration for modern GCC drivers. Whether you are using it as a daily executive commuter or a weekend family hauler, the cabin provides a sanctuary from the harsh outside elements and the frantic pace of Gulf city traffic.

Safety

Safety is a paramount concern for GCC families, and the 2022 Land Cruiser GXR delivers with a full 5-Star NCAP rating and a suite of advanced driver assistance systems. It comes equipped with Toyota Safety Sense, which includes a Pre-Collision System that is vital for the heavy traffic of Dubai, along with Dynamic Radar Cruise Control which takes the stress out of the long Abu Dhabi to Dubai commute. Lane Departure Alert and Blind Spot Monitoring are particularly useful on our wide, multi-lane highways where high-speed lane changes are common. The vehicle is built on the TNGA-F platform, which utilizes high-strength steel to provide a rigid safety cell for all occupants in the event of an impact. Additionally, the standard Stability Control and specialized ABS are tuned to work effectively on both tarmac and shifting sand surfaces. You are not just buying a car; you are buying a fortress on wheels that has been engineered to protect its passengers in the most demanding environments on earth.

The bottom line

For the buyer who demands a vehicle that can handle the school run, the executive commute, and the deepest desert dunes without ever breaking a sweat, this GCC-spec GXR is the definitive choice. It offers the best resale security in the UAE market, making it as much a financial asset as it is a world-class SUV.
