Summary

This 2023 Nissan Patrol SE Platinum City is a highly strategic buy for the GCC market, offering the prestige and equipment of a top-tier trim without the higher fuel overhead of the V8. At three years old with 87,000 km, its mileage reflects steady highway use typical of the region and remains well within the most reliable stage of its lifecycle. Gold is a practical and enduringly popular choice in the UAE, effectively masking desert dust while maintaining strong resale demand. For a buyer seeking the ultimate 8-seater family cabin paired with body-on-frame durability, this trim delivers every premium feature required for long-distance comfort in the heat. It stands out for its unique balance of daily drivability and legendary off-road hardware.

This Car vs Other 2023 Patrols

With 87,000 km over three years, this vehicle reflects the higher average annual mileage typical of GCC highway commuting compared to global standards. It has been driven approximately 29,000 km per year, which is standard for a full-size SUV in this region where long-distance travel between emirates is routine. The Gold exterior is a high-value asset for resale in the UAE, as it handles the intense sun better than darker shades and is consistently sought after by local buyers.

SE PLATINUM CITY vs Lower Trims

The Platinum City trim is a significant leap over the SE Titanium, adding 20-inch machine-cut alloy wheels and a more sculpted 'City Bumper' for a sharper presence on the road. Inside, it swaps standard materials for premium quilted leather upholstery and adds essential GCC comforts like ventilated and heated front seats. It also includes the 360-degree Intelligent Around View Monitor and an off-road monitor, features that are often missing on lower-spec models.

Patrol vs Segment Rivals

The Patrol leads the Toyota Land Cruiser and Ford Expedition in providing a massive 140-litre fuel tank, which is a critical advantage for long-range desert expeditions or cross-border GCC drives. While rivals offer smaller displacements, the Patrol's 4.0L V6 is celebrated for its mechanical simplicity and parts availability across every remote corner of the region. Its interior space, particularly the usable shoulder room for eight passengers, remains the benchmark for the full-size SUV segment.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for this V6 powertrain averages approximately 11.8 L/100km on the highway, rising to 15.0 L/100km in heavy GCC stop-start traffic. Maintenance is exceptionally convenient, as Nissan boasts one of the most extensive authorized service networks across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Oman, ensuring low long-term running costs. The Patrol maintains one of the highest value retention rates in the GCC, typically depreciating far slower than European rivals, especially in this high-specification GCC regional trim.

Performance & Capability

The 275 hp V6 engine provides a smooth, reliable power delivery that is perfectly suited for high-speed highway cruising and weekend desert drives. It features a selectable 4WD system with dedicated modes for Sand, Rock, and Snow, supported by a rear differential lock for genuine off-road capability. With 244 mm of ground clearance, it is engineered to clear terrain that would stop monocoque crossovers, making it a true dual-purpose vehicle for both city prestige and weekend adventure.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is a haven from the GCC summer, featuring a powerful multi-zone climate control system with dedicated rear vents and ventilated front seats that provide immediate cooling. The 8-seat layout is incredibly flexible, including a power-folding third row and a 13-speaker Bose audio system that ensures premium sound across all three rows. Acoustic glass and improved noise insulation for this model year keep the interior quiet, even at highway speeds during windy desert conditions.

Safety

This trim is equipped with a comprehensive safety suite designed for fast-moving highway traffic, including Intelligent Forward Collision Warning and Blind Spot Intervention. The 360-degree camera system makes parking this large SUV effortless in tight urban spaces, while Lane Departure Prevention helps maintain focus during long desert drives. It also features standard tire pressure monitoring, which is vital for safety when transitioning between road and sand driving.

The bottom line

This is the ideal choice for a GCC family that demands the luxury and off-road heritage of the Platinum City trim but prefers the practical maintenance and fuel profile of the V6 engine. Given its strong color and high specification, it represents a secure investment with excellent long-term resale potential.
