Summary

This 2023 Nissan Patrol SE Platinum City offers the ideal balance of luxury and practical daily performance for the GCC. While the V8 gets the headlines, this V6 model is highly sought after for city commuting and school runs, offering identical cabin tech and luxury features with a more manageable 4.0L powertrain. The Grey exterior is a top-performing resale color in the UAE and wider region, providing a professional look that hides desert dust better than darker shades. As a GCC-spec model, it features the heavy-duty cooling systems required to maintain peak cabin comfort during peak summer months. For a buyer looking for a modern 'King of the Desert' with full luxury options and a strong service footprint, this is a sensible and prestigious choice.

This Car vs Other 2023 Nissan Patrols

With 141,440 km, this vehicle has been a dedicated highway cruiser, likely serving as a cross-emirate commuter which is typical for high-mileage GCC SUVs. While higher than the annual average, these highway kilometers often result in less wear on the transmission and brakes compared to stop-start city driving. The Grey metallic finish is one of the most resilient colors for local resale, offering a significant advantage over niche colors when it comes time to trade in.

SE PLATINUM CITY vs Lower Trims

The Platinum City trim transforms the Patrol into a true luxury environment, adding 20-inch machine-cut alloy wheels and a 'City' bumper for a more sophisticated road presence. Inside, it upgrades from the standard leatherette to premium quilted leather seats with integrated heating and ventilation for the front row. You also gain the 13-speaker Bose audio system, a 360-degree Intelligent Around View Monitor, and a power-adjustable steering column with memory—features rarely found on the SE T2 or Titanium grades.

Nissan Patrol vs Segment Rivals

Compared to the Toyota Land Cruiser 300, the Patrol SE Platinum City is often preferred by GCC families for its superior interior space and more plush, car-like ride quality. It carries a massive 140-litre fuel capacity, which provides significantly more range between fill-ups on long Abu Dhabi to Dubai highway stretches than many smaller-tank competitors. While rivals focus on rugged utility, the Patrol leads the segment in cabin technology and 'soft-touch' luxury at this specific price point.

Running Costs & Resale

The 4.0L V6 offers a combined fuel consumption of approximately 11.8 L/100km, though real-world GCC city driving with full AC load typically averages closer to 15-18 L/100km. Service intervals are standardized at 10,000 km or 6 months, and Nissan's authorized network is one of the densest in the region, ensuring parts availability from Riyadh to Muscat. The Patrol remains a liquidity gold standard in the UAE, typically retaining 55-60% of its value after three years, outperforming almost everything in the full-size SUV class except the Land Cruiser.

Performance & Capability

The 275 hp V6 engine is paired with a smooth 7-speed automatic transmission and a selectable All-Wheel Drive system featuring dedicated Sand, On-Road, Snow, and Rock modes. While tuned for the city, it retains 273 mm of ground clearance and a locking rear differential, making it fully capable of weekend dune bashing or reaching remote wadis. On the highway, the 394 Nm of torque provides steady overtaking power, while the suspension is specifically valved to iron out road imperfections at cruising speeds.

Comfort & Cabin

This is a genuine 8-seater with a spacious third row that comfortably accommodates older children or adults on shorter trips. The tri-zone climate control is legendary in the GCC, featuring roof-mounted vents that ensure every passenger stays cool even in 45-plus degree heat. Technological highlights include the 12.3-inch infotainment screen with wireless Apple CarPlay and a factory-fitted refrigerator in the center console, perfect for keeping drinks cold during long family road trips.

Safety

The SE Platinum City comes equipped with Nissan’s full Intelligent Mobility suite, including Adaptive Cruise Control, Forward Collision Warning with Emergency Braking, and Lane Departure Intervention. Blind Spot Warning and Rear Cross Traffic Alert are standard, providing vital assistance on fast-moving multi-lane highways like Sheikh Zayed Road. The vehicle is further protected by a comprehensive 6-airbag system and Vehicle Dynamic Control to maintain stability on loose sand or gravel surfaces.

The bottom line

This is the perfect match for a GCC-based family that needs the prestige and scale of a Platinum-spec Patrol with the sensible running costs of the V6 engine. It offers a high-spec luxury interior and a bulletproof regional reputation, making it a safe and comfortable investment for years to come.
