Summary

This 2023 Nissan X-Terra Platinum represents a clever purchase for families needing a rugged yet refined 7-seater that excels in the GCC climate. As the range-topping trim, it offers premium features like quilted leather and advanced ADAS that are often optional on rivals. Its black exterior remains a high-demand choice for resale in the local market, while the Four-Wheel Drive system ensures it's as capable on weekend desert escapes as it is on the daily school run. With Nissan's extensive regional service network, maintaining this SUV is straightforward and cost-effective across the Emirates.

This Car vs Other 2023 X-Terras

While the mileage is slightly above the typical annual average for the GCC, it reflects the long-distance highway cruising these vehicles are built for. The black exterior is a significant advantage, as it is one of the top three colors for value retention in the UAE and Saudi markets. Being a 2023 model, it benefits from the latest interior refinements and acoustic glass that weren't standard on earlier production years.

PLATINUM vs Lower Trims

The Platinum trim is a substantial step up from the SE and Titanium, adding essential GCC luxuries like quilted premium leather seats and an 18-inch machine-cut alloy wheel package. Technology is the big differentiator here, featuring the 360-degree Intelligent Around View Monitor and a premium 8-speaker Bose audio system. Safety is also upgraded with a full ADAS suite including Blind Spot Warning and Lane Departure Warning, which are absent on the base SE.

X-Terra vs Segment Rivals

Compared to the Toyota Fortuner and Mitsubishi Montero Sport, the X-Terra is frequently cited for having superior on-road ride comfort due to its multi-link rear suspension. It offers a more modern interior layout than the Fortuner, with a dedicated focus on cabin cooling performance that is vital for the region. Its 78-litre fuel tank provides a generous cruising range, making it a preferred choice for cross-country drives between Dubai and Muscat.

Running Costs & Resale

The 2.5L engine is optimized for efficiency, averaging approximately 11.4 km/L, which is competitive for a body-on-frame SUV in GCC stop-start traffic. Nissan enjoys one of the widest authorized service networks in the Middle East, ensuring parts are readily available and affordable. Historically, the X-Terra maintains strong residual value, typically depreciating at a slower rate than its American or European competitors in the local market.

Performance & Capability

With 243 mm of ground clearance, this SUV is engineered to handle rocky wadis and moderate sand dunes with ease. The 165 hp engine is paired with a 7-speed automatic transmission, providing smooth gear shifts for highway overtaking and steady torque for off-road climbs. Its selectable Four-Wheel Drive system includes a dedicated low-range mode, giving you the hardware necessary for genuine regional exploration.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin features a versatile 7-seat configuration with a remote-folding second row for easy access to the back. A specialized dual-zone climate control system with dedicated rear vents ensures all three rows stay cool during peak summer months. The Platinum trim further enhances the experience with ambient lighting and acoustic glass, significantly reducing road noise during high-speed highway travel.

Safety

This X-Terra comes equipped with a comprehensive safety package, including 6 airbags and the Nissan Intelligent Mobility suite. Drivers benefit from Adaptive Cruise Control for long desert stretches and Rear Cross Traffic Alert for busy city parking. The Intelligent Forward Collision Warning and Emergency Braking provide an extra layer of protection in fast-moving multi-lane highway traffic.

The bottom line

For the UAE buyer who wants a fully-loaded, reliable family SUV that doesn't compromise on off-road hardware, this Platinum trim X-Terra is the ideal balance of luxury and durability.
