Summary

This 2023 Toyota Land Cruiser GXR is a prime example of the LC300 generation, balancing legendary durability with modern cabin comforts. Finished in White, the region's most desirable resale color for heat reflection and value retention, it remains a top-tier choice for GCC families. With 79,000 km, this vehicle has been utilized primarily for the long-distance highway commutes typical of UAE driving, yet it maintains the rugged mechanical integrity the Land Cruiser is famous for. Choosing the 4.0L V6 GXR provides a simplified, naturally aspirated powertrain that is easier to maintain long-term compared to more complex turbo variants. It represents a secure investment in a market where Toyota’s flagship SUV continues to command the highest demand and trust.

This Car vs Other 2023 Land Cruisers

While many LC300s of this year are equipped with the twin-turbo 3.5L engine, this 4.0L V6 GXR caters to the traditionalist who prioritizes long-term mechanical simplicity and proven reliability. The white exterior is a strategic choice for the GCC, offering the highest thermal efficiency in summer and the strongest liquidity in the pre-owned market. At 79,000 km, this car sits at a typical usage level for a two-year-old GCC workhorse, where long-range desert and highway driving is the norm.

GXR vs Lower Trims

The GXR trim provides a significant technology and comfort jump over the entry-level EXR, most notably adding a 360-degree Panoramic View Monitor which is essential for maneuvering this large SUV in tight city spaces. Inside, the GXR replaces basic fabric with more premium synthetic leather and adds power adjustment for the driver's seat, alongside a larger 12.3-inch infotainment screen. Crucially for GCC buyers, the GXR also introduces additional driver-assistance systems like Blind Spot Monitoring and Dynamic Radar Cruise Control.

Land Cruiser vs Segment Rivals

In the GCC, the Land Cruiser’s primary rival is the Nissan Patrol V6. While the Patrol offers slightly more peak horsepower, the Land Cruiser leads in real-world durability and holds a distinct advantage in secondary market value retention across the Emirates and Saudi Arabia. Its 110-litre fuel capacity and wide-reaching Toyota service network make it the superior choice for cross-border travel and remote desert exploration where parts availability is critical.

Running Costs & Resale

The 4.0L V6 engine is engineered for longevity and is compatible with widely available fuel grades across the GCC. Real-world fuel consumption averages around 10.6 L/100km on the highway, though this can rise during heavy stop-start traffic in major cities like Dubai or Riyadh. Service intervals are recommended every 10,000 km, and with the most extensive authorized service network in the region, maintenance is convenient and cost-effective. The LC300 GXR historically experiences lower annual depreciation than European rivals, typically losing only 8-10% of its value per year.

Performance & Capability

Equipped with a 271 hp V6 and a robust full-time 4WD system, this Land Cruiser is built to conquer everything from steep dunes to high-speed multi-lane highways. It features 235 mm of ground clearance and dedicated off-road hardware, including Crawl Control and Multi-Terrain Select, allowing the driver to tailor the traction to sand, rock, or gravel. The 6-speed automatic transmission is geared for reliable torque delivery, ensuring confident overtaking on the E11 and effortless towing capacity when needed.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is a dedicated 7-seater environment designed to handle the extreme GCC summer with a high-output dual-zone climate control system and dedicated rear cooling vents for all three rows. The GXR trim includes synthetic leather upholstery that stays cooler than dark fabrics, and the acoustic glass windshield helps maintain a quiet, insulated atmosphere during long desert drives. The 12.3-inch display provides seamless wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration, keeping the family connected between Emirates.

Safety

Safety is comprehensive in the GXR trim, featuring a suite of active technologies including Lane Departure Alert, Pre-Collision System, and Adaptive High Beam System. The inclusion of a 360-degree camera and front/rear parking sensors makes it safe for school runs and urban parking, while the full-time 4WD and Vehicle Stability Control provide essential grip on unpredictable sandy road surfaces. This trim is also equipped with a full array of airbags, including side and curtain protection for all passengers.

The bottom line

This 2023 Land Cruiser GXR is the ideal choice for a GCC buyer who wants a reliable, high-spec family SUV that will retain its value better than almost anything else on the road. It offers the perfect balance of modern LC300 tech and the classic, dependable V6 powertrain.
