• Extensive GCC authorised service network

Summary

This 2021 VXR represents the final and most refined year of the legendary 200-series Land Cruiser, a factor that makes it highly sought after by GCC enthusiasts. With only 66,000 km, this vehicle has been driven well below the regional average for its age, ensuring plenty of life in its robust powertrain. The white exterior is the gold standard for resale in this market, offering the best heat rejection and value retention available. As the top-tier VXR trim, it pairs Toyota’s most powerful 5.7L V8 with a level of cabin luxury that rivals many dedicated premium brands. For a buyer in the Gulf, there is no more reliable or prestigious way to move a large family across both city highways and desert dunes.

This Car vs Other 2021 Land Cruisers

With 66,000 km on the odometer, this Land Cruiser has averaged roughly 22,000 km per year, which is considered low-to-average for a vehicle frequently used for long-distance highway travel between emirates. Many 2021 models in the region have already surpassed the 90,000 km mark, making this a mechanically fresh example. The white paintwork is the most popular choice in the UAE, ensuring it will always be easy to sell when the time comes to upgrade.

VXR vs Lower Trims

Choosing the VXR trim over the GXR upgrades the driving experience with a more sophisticated Adaptive Variable Suspension (AVS) and the Electronic Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System (E-KDSS) for flatter cornering. Inside, the VXR adds critical GCC comforts like ventilated front seats, a 14-speaker JBL premium audio system, and a larger 12.3-inch infotainment display. It also includes the full suite of driver assistance tech and rear-seat entertainment screens that are often missing on lower specifications.

Land Cruiser vs Segment Rivals

Compared to the Nissan Patrol, the Land Cruiser 200-series is often favored for its superior resale value and historical reputation for bulletproof reliability. While rivals like the Chevrolet Tahoe offer more total cargo volume, the Land Cruiser leads with its heavy-duty body-on-frame construction and a massive 138-litre dual fuel tank system designed specifically for long-range desert expeditions. Its cooling system is also widely regarded as the most effective for maintaining cabin comfort during the peak of the Gulf summer.

Running Costs & Resale

The 5.7L V8 is a thirsty engine, typically averaging between 15 and 17 L/100km in mixed GCC driving, but its reliability helps offset fuel costs by minimizing unexpected repairs. Toyota’s authorized service network is the most extensive in the region, with centers available in every major city from Dubai to Riyadh. This specific model enjoys one of the lowest depreciation rates in the UAE, typically losing only 8-10% of its value annually compared to 15% for European luxury SUVs.

Performance & Capability

The 362 hp V8 engine provides effortless torque, allowing this 8-seater to reach 100 km/h in approximately 7 seconds, which is impressive for its size. Its true strength lies in its off-road hardware, featuring a low-range transfer case and Multi-Terrain Select that makes light work of soft sand and steep dunes. The 8-speed automatic transmission is tuned for smooth highway cruising, keeping RPMs low during high-speed trips between cities.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is configured to seat eight passengers in comfort, with a dedicated four-zone climate control system that ensures even those in the third row stay cool in 45°C temperatures. A factory-integrated refrigerator in the center console is a standard VXR feature, perfect for keeping drinks cold during long weekend road trips. Acoustic glass and thick insulation provide a quiet environment, effectively shielding the interior from wind noise and exterior heat.

Safety

This VXR trim comes standard with the full Toyota Safety Sense suite, including Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Departure Alert, and a Pre-Collision System that are vital for safe highway travel. It also features a 360-degree camera system for easier parking and Blind Spot Monitoring to assist with lane changes on fast-moving multi-lane roads. A total of 10 airbags provide comprehensive protection for all three rows of passengers.

The bottom line

This is the definitive GCC family SUV, offering the perfect combination of low mileage, the most desirable trim, and the strongest resale color available. It is the ideal choice for a buyer who wants the peak of 200-series luxury before the model shifted to the smaller V6 engines of the newer generation.
