Summary

This 2023 Volkswagen Teramont offers a compelling opportunity for families seeking a massive, road-ready SUV with the security of GCC-specific engineering. While the mileage reflects a history of active use, this is actually a benefit for a vehicle designed for heavy-duty highway commuting between Emirates, as it proves the mechanical reliability of the 3.6L V6 powertrain. The black exterior is one of the most sought-after colors in the Gulf region, ensuring higher demand and better value retention when it comes time to upgrade. As a recent model year, it provides a more modern cabin and updated technology compared to older rivals while sitting at a more accessible entry point than the higher trims. The Teramont is widely considered the best choice in its class for those who actually use the third row for adults, making it a standout in the local family market. If you need a dependable, spacious, and heat-resistant German engineering package, this specific listing is a pragmatic and stylish choice.

This Car vs Other 2023 Teramonts

With just over 100,000 kilometers on the odometer, this vehicle has been driven more than the typical 20,000-25,000 km annual average for the GCC, but this is often indicative of long-distance highway miles between cities like Dubai and Abu Dhabi rather than stressful stop-start city traffic. In the local market, highway mileage is generally preferred by savvy buyers as it results in less wear on the transmission and brakes compared to lower-mileage city cars. The black paintwork is a major asset here, as it remains a top-tier resale color in the UAE and Saudi Arabia, commandingly outpacing niche colors in liquidity. This car presents as a mechanically proven example that has already navigated the steepest part of its depreciation curve, offering a 2023 model experience at a significant relative value. It represents a solid middle ground for buyers who prioritize a newer model year and the latest safety tech over keeping mileage strictly in the low-range.

Trendline vs Lower Trims

The Trendline trim serves as the essential gateway into the Teramont lifestyle, but it is far from basic, coming standard with the robust 3.6L VR6 engine which many UAE buyers prefer over the 2.0L turbo variants found in base models of other brands. While it avoids some of the delicate electronic complexity of the higher trims, it retains the core essentials that GCC drivers demand, such as powerful multi-zone climate control and a responsive touchscreen interface with full smartphone integration. Unlike lower-tier SUVs in the same price bracket, the Trendline includes high-quality LED headlights and signature daytime running lights that are vital for visibility during dusty conditions or late-night desert highway drives. It also features the full 4Motion All-Wheel Drive system as standard, ensuring that you don't lose out on capability just by choosing a more value-oriented trim. This trim level is specifically prized by practical families who want the space and safety of a German SUV without the premium price tag of panoramic sunroofs or leather that can become extremely hot in the summer sun.

Teramont vs Segment Rivals

When compared to the Ford Explorer or the Toyota Highlander, the Teramont clearly leads in total usable interior volume and third-row accessibility. It offers a more 'boxy' and European driving feel that provides better straight-line stability on the E11 highway compared to some of its softer American or Japanese rivals. The cargo capacity with all seats up is significantly larger than what you will find in a Nissan Pathfinder, making it the better choice for large family grocery runs or weekend trips to Oman. Furthermore, the German engineering behind the chassis gives it a more planted feel at high speeds, which is a common requirement for the fast-paced driving culture in the region. While some rivals focus on hybrid efficiency, the Teramont focuses on sheer physical space and a robust naturally aspirated engine that is famously easy to service across the GCC service network.

Running Costs & Resale

The 3.6L V6 engine is a staple of the Volkswagen group, meaning parts are readily available at both authorized dealerships like Al Nabooda or Ali & Sons, and at specialized independent garages across the UAE and beyond. Fuel consumption reflects the vehicle's size, typically averaging around 10-12 liters per 100km on highways and higher in heavy city traffic, making its large fuel tank a necessity for the long distances common in the GCC. Because this is a GCC-spec vehicle, it benefits from a more robust cooling system and air conditioning unit designed specifically for 50°C temperatures, a factor that significantly boosts its resale value compared to imported US-spec 'salvage' or 'clean' title cars. The Teramont has shown strong value retention in the regional market, typically depreciating at a rate of 12-15% annually, which is highly competitive for a European SUV. Its popularity ensures a healthy secondary market, meaning you can expect a quick sale when you eventually decide to trade it in.

Performance & Capability

The heart of this SUV is the 3.6-liter V6 engine, delivering a smooth and linear power delivery that is perfect for overtaking on high-speed roads. With its All-Wheel Drive system, the Teramont provides excellent traction not just on wet pavement, but also on gravel tracks or firm sand at the entrance of desert campsites. It can tow up to 2,268 kg, allowing it to easily handle jet skis or small camping trailers for weekend adventures. The ground clearance is generous for its class, protecting the underbody during trips to more rugged areas like Hatta or Jebel Jais. Acceleration from 0-100 km/h is achieved in roughly 8.9 seconds, which is more than adequate for a vehicle of this footprint. The driving modes allow you to tailor the AWD system to the surface, providing extra confidence whether you are navigating a rainstorm in Fujairah or a sandy parking lot in Dubai.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is a masterclass in ergonomics, featuring a massive seven-seat layout where the middle row slides and tilts to allow easy access to the back. A major highlight for GCC owners is the high-performance air conditioning system, which includes dedicated vents for all three rows, ensuring that passengers in the very back stay cool during the peak of July. The fabric seats in this Trendline trim are often preferred by local buyers over leather, as they remain significantly cooler when the car is parked in direct sunlight. Noise insulation is excellent, keeping the cabin quiet even when cruising at 140 km/h, which reduces fatigue on long cross-emirate journeys. You also get a user-friendly infotainment system that keeps the family connected and entertained throughout the trip. The storage cubbies and cup holders are oversized, catering perfectly to the large water bottles and snacks required for family road trips.

Safety

Safety is a pillar of the Volkswagen brand, and the Teramont comes equipped with a comprehensive suite of protective features including front, side, and curtain airbags that extend to the third row. It holds a 5-star safety rating, providing peace of mind for those transporting their most precious cargo. Standard features include a rearview camera and parking sensors, which are indispensable for maneuvering such a large vehicle in tight mall parking structures. The Electronic Stability Control and Anti-Slip Regulation are calibrated to handle the occasionally slick or sandy road conditions found in the GCC. Additionally, the blind-spot monitoring system is a vital tool for safely navigating the multi-lane highways of Riyadh or Dubai, where fast-moving traffic requires constant vigilance. The ISOFIX tethers are easily accessible, making child seat installation a quick and secure process.

The bottom line

This Teramont is the ideal choice for a growing family that needs maximum space and German safety standards without the premium price of a luxury-brand SUV. Given its GCC-spec status and popular color, it represents one of the most practical and secure buys currently available in the mid-size SUV market.
