Summary

This 2024 Geely Coolray GL offers an exceptional entry point into the modern compact SUV market, balancing sharp performance with everyday economy. Finished in white—a strategic choice for the GCC heat—it maintains high demand in the local resale market while keeping the cabin cooler during peak summer months. Its 1.5L turbocharged engine provides a punchy, responsive drive that feels significantly more refined than previous iterations, making it a reliable partner for both city navigation and highway runs. As a GCC-spec model, it benefits from a robust regional service network and parts availability, ensuring lower long-term ownership anxiety. This listing is a standout for value-conscious buyers who prioritize style and modern tech without the premium price tag of a top-tier trim.

This Car vs Other 2024 Coolrays

With 61,245 km on the odometer, this vehicle has been driven approximately 30,000 km per year, which is consistent with the higher annual averages typical for highway commuters in the GCC. The white exterior is the most popular choice in the region for its superior heat reflection and historically strong resale value compared to bolder colors. It represents a well-maintained example that bridges the gap between low-mileage weekenders and high-mileage workhorses.

GL vs Lower Trims

The GL trim serves as the essential value package, retaining the same powerful 1.5L turbocharged engine and 7-speed wet dual-clutch transmission found in higher versions. While it skips the panoramic roof of the GK, it provides all the core GCC essentials including a responsive touchscreen, LED daytime running lights, and standard cruise control. It is designed for the buyer who wants the Coolray's signature performance and look without paying for cosmetic extras.

Coolray vs Segment Rivals

The Coolray leads segment rivals like the MG ZS and Hyundai Creta by offering a significantly more powerful turbocharged engine that delivers superior highway overtaking confidence. Built on the BMA architecture shared with European engineering partners, it offers a level of chassis refinement and interior material quality that punches well above its price bracket. Its compact turning circle and agile handling make it particularly well-suited for the tight parking and dense traffic of Dubai and Riyadh.

Running Costs & Resale

Fuel efficiency is a major strength, with an official combined rating of 5.8 L/100km, making it one of the most economical petrol SUVs in its class for long-distance GCC driving. Geely has established a strong presence across the UAE and Saudi Arabia with authorized service centers like AGMC and Wallan, ensuring service intervals of 10,000 km are easy to maintain. Resale value for Geely remains competitive in the GCC, typically depreciating at a rate comparable to established Korean rivals rather than other newer market entrants.

Performance & Capability

The standout figure is the 7.6-second 0–100 km/h sprint, which provides a level of zip rarely found in subcompact crossovers. The 7-speed wet dual-clutch transmission is specifically tuned to handle the stop-start nature of GCC traffic while remaining smooth during high-speed cruising between emirates. With 255 Nm of torque available early in the rev range, merging onto fast-moving highways is effortless and predictable.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is designed with the regional climate in mind, featuring a powerful air conditioning system that quickly cools the five-seat interior even after hours in the sun. Despite being a subcompact, the smart interior layout provides generous legroom for front passengers and enough cargo space for a weekend road trip. The GL trim features durable upholstery that stands up well to the dust and heat of the local environment.

Safety

Standard safety equipment on the GL includes multiple airbags, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), and a Traction Control System (TCS) that provides essential grip on sandy or rain-slicked surfaces. It also features a tire pressure monitoring system and Hill Start Assist, which are particularly useful for local garage ramps and varying road conditions. The inclusion of rear parking sensors and a clear camera makes navigating tight city spaces safe and stress-free.

The bottom line

For the pragmatist who wants a modern, tech-forward SUV with a punchy turbo engine and strong local support, this white GCC-spec Coolray is an unbeatable value proposition.
