Summary

This 2024 Land Rover Defender 110 Carpathian Edition represents the flagship of the Defender line, combining a supercharged V8 with a unique satin-finished aesthetic that commands high resale interest. With 40,000 km, its usage is slightly above the GCC annual average, yet it remains a highly desirable high-performance SUV for those who value both pace and prestige. The Carpathian Edition adds a level of exclusivity and factory-fitted protection that separates it from the standard V8 models frequently seen on the road. For a buyer in the UAE or wider Gulf, this model offers a rare blend of track-ready power and genuine desert capability. As a European spec vehicle, ensuring a comprehensive local service history is the key to maintaining its long-term value in the regional market.

This Car vs Other 2024 Defender 110s

At 40,000 km, this Defender has seen active use typical of a primary vehicle in the GCC, where highway commuting between emirates adds up quickly. While the mileage is higher than a weekend-only car, the Carpathian Edition’s rarity and the popularity of its black-on-black aesthetic ensure it remains a top-tier choice for resale. European spec models like this often feature high equipment levels, making them a well-specced alternative to local units if maintained correctly.

CARPATHIAN EDITION P525 vs Lower Trims

The Carpathian Edition sits above the standard V8 P525, adding exclusive Carpathian Grey premium metallic paint with a factory-applied Satin Protective Film for durability against sand and debris. It distinguishes itself with a black contrast hood, roof, and tailgate, alongside 22-inch Gloss Black wheels and quad-exit exhausts that are not standard on P400 or lower V8 trims. Inside, you receive the highest grade Windsor leather paired with Dinamica suedecloth and a specialized Ebony Morzine headlining.

Defender 110 vs Segment Rivals

The Defender 110 P525 competes directly with the Mercedes-AMG G63 and the BMW X5 M. While the G63 offers similar off-road heritage, the Defender provides a more sophisticated air suspension system and superior wading depth for unpredictable desert terrain. Compared to the X5 M, the Defender offers a more rugged aesthetic and a specialized Terrain Response 2 system that is significantly more capable in soft sand conditions.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the 5.0L supercharged V8 averages approximately 14.7 L/100km, though this will increase in stop-start city traffic in Dubai or Riyadh. Service intervals are typically every 13,000 km or 12 months at authorized centers available throughout the UAE and KSA. While European imports can face a steeper initial depreciation compared to GCC-spec units, the Carpathian Edition's status as a top-of-the-line trim helps it retain roughly 65-70% of its value after two years.

Performance & Capability

The supercharged 5.0L V8 delivers 525 hp, enabling a 0–100 km/h sprint in just 5.2 seconds and a top speed of 240 km/h. Its capability is bolstered by an Electronic Active Differential and a two-speed transfer case for low-range crawling. With a maximum ground clearance of 291 mm and a wading depth of 900 mm, it is as comfortable crossing deep wadis as it is overtaking on the E11 highway.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is optimized for the GCC climate with 14-way heated and cooled electric memory front seats as standard. A three-zone climate control system ensures rear passengers remain comfortable during the summer months, complemented by the Pivi Pro 11.4-inch touchscreen and a 700W Meridian Surround Sound System. The Carpathian Edition also includes a refrigerated center console, perfect for keeping drinks cold during long desert expeditions.

Safety

Standard safety features include a 360° Surround Camera with 3D perspective, which is invaluable for both tight city parking and navigating technical off-road trails. The full ADAS suite provides Adaptive Cruise Control and Blind Spot Assist, essential for high-speed GCC highway driving. Additionally, it features Wade Sensing technology and Lane Keep Assist to provide comprehensive protection across all driving environments.

The bottom line

For the enthusiast who wants the absolute peak of the Defender range, this Carpathian Edition offers unmatched presence and V8 performance in a modern, well-maintained package.
