Summary

This 2024 Tesla Model 3 Long Range AWD represents a compelling move into electric performance, featuring the 'Highland' refresh with significantly improved cabin quietness and ride quality. With 88,000 km in two years, it has been a reliable long-distance commuter, benefiting from the Dual Motor All-Wheel Drive system that provides superior stability on wet or sand-blown highways. The Ultra Red exterior is one of the brand's most sought-after colors in the GCC, known for maintaining strong resale appeal. Compared to the base RWD trim, this Long Range version offers the essential peace of mind for inter-emirate travel with its high-capacity battery. For a UAE owner, the access to the Supercharger network remains the single best reason to choose Tesla over any other EV rival.

This Car vs Other 2024 Model 3s

At 88,000 km, this vehicle's mileage is higher than the typical GCC average of 40,000-50,000 km for a two-year-old car, indicating consistent highway use between cities. However, as an electric vehicle with fewer moving parts than a petrol equivalent, this mileage carries less mechanical risk and is reflected in its competitive market positioning. The Red multi-coat paint is a premium option that holds value better than standard white or black in the local pre-owned market.

LONG RANGE vs Lower Trims

The Long Range AWD adds a second motor for all-wheel drive and a much larger 82 kWh battery compared to the base RWD model. Beyond performance, this trim includes the 17-speaker premium audio system and ventilated front seats as standard—a critical upgrade for the GCC summer. You also benefit from faster 250 kW DC charging, allowing for quicker stops at Superchargers during long trips.

Model 3 vs Segment Rivals

The Model 3 Long Range competes directly with the BMW i4 and BYD Seal, leading both in terms of charging infrastructure and software integration. While the BMW offers a more traditional luxury interior, the Tesla's thermal management system is widely regarded as the most robust for high-temperature desert climates. Its energy efficiency allows for a longer real-world range on long stretches like the E11 compared to many legacy-brand competitors.

Running Costs & Resale

Electric running costs in the UAE are significantly lower than petrol, particularly for owners with home charging. Maintenance is minimal, typically involving only cabin filters, wipers, and tire rotations every 20,000 km, with authorized service centers well-established in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. While early EVs faced steep depreciation, the 2024 Highland refresh has shown better value retention due to its improved build quality and continued demand in the GCC market.

Performance & Capability

The Dual Motor setup delivers an official 0–100 km/h time of 4.4 seconds, providing effortless overtaking power on fast-moving UAE highways. With a top speed of 201 km/h and instant torque, it handles high-speed cruising with more composure than the single-motor variants. The All-Wheel Drive system isn't just for traction; it provides precise torque vectoring that enhances safety during the region's occasional heavy rain and dust storms.

Comfort & Cabin

The 2024 refresh introduced 360-degree acoustic glass, making this cabin significantly quieter than previous Model 3 generations. Passengers in the back enjoy a dedicated 8-inch rear touchscreen for climate and entertainment control, a feature rarely found in this segment. The interior is designed for the heat, featuring powerful dual-zone climate control that can be activated via the Tesla app to pre-cool the car before you enter.

Safety

Tesla's Autopilot suite comes standard, providing adaptive cruise control and lane-keeping assistance that are ideal for reducing fatigue on long desert drives. The car is equipped with eight cameras providing 360-degree visibility, alongside active safety features like automatic emergency braking and blind-spot monitoring with camera feeds. Its rigid structure and floor-mounted battery pack contribute to one of the lowest rollover risks in its class.

The bottom line

For the high-mileage commuter looking to slash fuel costs without sacrificing performance, this 2024 Long Range AWD is the most logical entry point into the updated 'Highland' generation.
