Summary

This 2024 Volkswagen Teramont Trendline offers a compelling entry into the full-size family SUV segment with a turbocharged powertrain that balances output and efficiency. Its clean white exterior is the most sought-after color for resale in the GCC, and with 58,035 km, it has been driven slightly more than the average but remains mechanically fresh for a 2024 model. The Teramont stands out by offering more interior volume and a more usable third row than most mid-size rivals, making it a true seven-seater for growing families. As a GCC-spec vehicle, it features the cooling capacity and regional warranty suitability essential for long-term ownership in the local climate.

This Car vs Other 2024 Teramonts

With 58,035 km on the odometer, this Teramont has been actively used for highway commuting, which is common for family vehicles in the UAE. While the mileage is higher than garage-kept examples, it reflects a vehicle that has likely spent its life on smooth regional highways rather than in stop-start city congestion. The white exterior is a strategic choice for the GCC, offering the best heat rejection and maintaining the highest resale demand in the secondary market.

Trendline vs Lower Trims

The Trendline serves as the foundational trim for the 2024 model year, but it is far from basic, coming standard with the updated 2.0L TSI engine producing 270 hp. Unlike older base models, this 2024 Trendline includes the 12-inch infotainment display and the 10.25-inch Digital Cockpit as standard. It also retains the essential 4Motion all-wheel-drive system and LED headlights that are often upgrades in this segment.

Teramont vs Segment Rivals

The Teramont leads competitors like the Toyota Highlander and Ford Explorer in terms of raw interior dimensions, particularly in third-row legroom and cargo flexibility. While rivals may focus on hybrid efficiency, the Volkswagen offers a more European driving feel and a sophisticated 8-speed automatic transmission that feels more robust on the highway. Its 70-litre fuel tank provides a significant cruising range for cross-country drives between Abu Dhabi and Muscat.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the 2.0L TSI engine typically averages around 9.2 L/100km in combined conditions, though intensive AC use in GCC summers can bring city figures closer to 11.5 L/100km. Volkswagen has a comprehensive authorized service network across the UAE and Saudi Arabia, with recommended service intervals every 15,000 km. While European SUVs generally depreciate faster than Japanese rivals, the Teramont retains roughly 60-65% of its value after three years, making it a stable asset in the 7-seater category.

Performance & Capability

The 2.0L turbocharged engine delivers a surprisingly punchy 370 Nm of torque, enabling an 8.1-second sprint to 100 km/h, which is faster than many V6-powered competitors. The 4Motion all-wheel-drive system includes selectable modes for Snow, On-road, and Off-road, providing confidence during weekend desert camping trips or unexpected rain. With 203 mm of ground clearance, it easily handles sand tracks and high curbs found throughout the region.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is designed for large family logistics, featuring seven full-sized seats and a third row that genuinely accommodates adults. For the GCC climate, the Trendline trim includes dedicated rear AC vents for both the second and third rows, ensuring rapid cabin cooling even in 45°C heat. The flat-folding seat mechanism allows the boot space to expand from 583 litres to a massive 2,735 litres, perfect for large IKEA runs or airport transfers.

Safety

Safety is a hallmark of the Teramont, which comes standard with six airbags and a suite of active driver aids including Adaptive Cruise Control and Front Assist with emergency braking. Blind Spot Monitoring is particularly useful for the multi-lane highway driving typical of Dubai and Riyadh. The vehicle also features ISOFIX points on the second row for secure child seat installation, along with a standard rear-view camera and parking sensors.

The bottom line

This 2024 Teramont is the ideal choice for a family that needs maximum space and modern tech without the premium price tag of a Highline trim. Its GCC-specific features and popular color make it a safe, practical investment for long-term regional use.
