Summary

This 2025 Fortuner GXR represents a highly sought-after configuration in the GCC market, combining the range-topping 4.0L V6 engine with a professional-grade 4x4 system. As a new model year vehicle in black, it occupies the most favorable position for long-term resale value, a critical factor for owners in the region. The GXR trim bridges the gap between the entry-level four-cylinder models and the luxury-focused VXR, offering the ideal balance of mechanical capability and daily comfort. For GCC buyers, the primary advantage is the combination of body-on-frame durability and a vast authorized service network that ensures reliability even in remote desert areas. This specific listing is a strong buy for those seeking a modern 7-seater that can transition from city errands to desert expeditions without compromise.

This Car vs Other 2025 Fortuners

While many 2025 models in the used market feature the smaller 2.7L engine, this GXR comes equipped with the superior 4.0L V6 powertrain, which is significantly better suited for GCC highway speeds. The black exterior is a high-demand finish across the UAE and Saudi Arabia, providing a resale advantage over brighter or non-metallic colors. Given it is the current model year, the low wear-and-tear makes it a prime alternative to a showroom-new purchase.

GXR vs Lower Trims

The GXR trim provides a major performance leap over the EXR by upgrading the engine from a 4-cylinder to the 235 hp V6, essential for overtaking on fast-moving motorways. Inside, the GXR adds dual-zone automatic climate control and a leather-trimmed steering wheel with wood grain accents, elevating the cabin atmosphere. Mechanically, it introduces a rear differential lock as standard, transforming the car from a family SUV into a serious off-road contender.

Fortuner vs Segment Rivals

Compared to rivals like the Mitsubishi Montero Sport or Nissan X-Terra, the Fortuner leads with its massive 80-litre fuel tank, providing greater range for long-distance cross-border drives. Its body-on-frame platform is shared with the legendary Hilux, giving it a durability edge over unibody crossovers in the same price bracket. Furthermore, the 4.0L V6 is a naturally aspirated unit, which often provides more consistent cooling performance in extreme 50°C summer heat compared to turbocharged competitors.

Running Costs & Resale

The 4.0L V6 engine delivers a combined fuel efficiency of approximately 9.6 km/L under mixed GCC conditions, with the 80-litre tank offering significant range between refills. Toyota maintains the most extensive authorized service network in the region, with service intervals typically occurring every 10,000 km. Historically, the Fortuner is a regional champion for value retention, typically depreciating at a rate of only 8–10% annually, significantly outperforming its American and European segment rivals.

Performance & Capability

With 235 hp and 376 Nm of torque, this V6-powered SUV handles highway cruising with ease and can reach 100 km/h in approximately 9 seconds. The part-time 4WD system includes a dedicated low-range transfer case, making it fully capable of tackling soft sand dunes during weekend desert trips. A revised 2025 ground clearance of 225 mm and a 700 mm wading depth ensure it can navigate both rocky terrain and sudden seasonal street flooding with total confidence.

Comfort & Cabin

This 7-seater layout features a highly effective tri-zone air conditioning system with dedicated vents for all three rows, a must-have for the intense Gulf summer. The GXR cabin includes a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay, complemented by a cooled upper glove box to keep beverages chilled during long drives. The seating is designed for durability, featuring a one-touch tumble mechanism for the second row to allow easy access to the third row for family use.

Safety

Standard safety features on this trim include a comprehensive seven-airbag system, encompassing driver knee protection and side curtain airbags. Active safety is supported by Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) and Hill-Start Assist, which are particularly useful when navigating steep dunes or gravel tracks. The GXR also includes a rear-view camera and front/rear parking sensors as standard, assisting with visibility during city parking in tight urban areas like Dubai or Riyadh.

The bottom line

This 2025 Fortuner GXR is the definitive choice for a GCC family needing a reliable, V6-powered workhorse that holds its value better than almost any other vehicle in its class.
