Summary

This 2026 Ford Explorer ST is a high-performance SUV that perfectly bridges the gap between a family hauler and a sports car. With very low mileage and a striking red exterior, it offers a significant saving over a showroom-fresh model while maintaining that new-car feel. The ST trim is highly coveted in the GCC for its dominant road presence and the powerful 3.0L EcoBoost engine that makes highway overtaking effortless. For the regional buyer, this model stands out by offering genuine Ford Performance engineering in a package that stays composed during the intense heat of a summer commute. It is the ideal choice for those who need seven seats but refuse to compromise on driving dynamics.

This Car vs Other 2026 Explorers

With just 7,471 km on the odometer, this Explorer ST is in exceptional condition, sitting well below the typical 20,000–25,000 km annual average seen in the GCC. The Ruby Red paint is a premium choice that holds its appeal in the used market, offering a sportier alternative to the common white or silver SUVs found on the road. Buying at this mileage allows you to skip the initial steep depreciation while still benefiting from the remainder of the manufacturer's regional coverage.

ST vs Lower Trims

The ST is the performance flagship, significantly outclassing the ST-Line and Active trims which utilize a smaller 4-cylinder engine. Beyond the 100 hp jump, the ST adds essential GCC luxury features including ventilated front seats, a 14-speaker B&O premium audio system, and a sport-tuned suspension for better high-speed stability. It also includes the PowerFold third row and high-performance brakes with red calipers as standard, features often missing or optional on lesser models.

Explorer vs Segment Rivals

The Explorer ST competes directly with the Dodge Durango R/T and the Chevrolet Traverse, but leads the segment in terms of sheer acceleration and tech integration. Its rear-wheel-drive biased platform provides a more athletic driving feel than the front-drive based Traverse, while its twin-turbo V6 outmuscles the Durango's naturally aspirated V8 in torque delivery. For long drives between emirates, the Explorer's 76-litre fuel tank and advanced ADAS suite make it a more refined long-distance cruiser.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the ST averages around 13.0L/100km in mixed GCC conditions, though highway cruising can see this improve significantly. Ford maintains an extensive authorized service network across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait, ensuring that parts and expertise are always within reach. The ST trim typically retains about 70-75% of its value after three years in the GCC, making it one of the better-performing American SUVs for resale.

Performance & Capability

The 400 hp twin-turbo V6 delivers a 0-100 km/h time of just 5.2 seconds, putting it in the territory of many dedicated sports sedans. The Intelligent All-Wheel Drive system and Terrain Management System allow you to switch between modes like 'Slippery' and 'Sport' to handle everything from rain-slicked city roads to light gravel tracks. Despite its performance focus, it retains a full 2,268 kg (5,000 lbs) towing capacity, making it as practical for weekend trips as it is fast on the open road.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is designed for GCC summers, featuring powerful tri-zone climate control with dedicated vents for all three rows and essential ventilated front seating. It features a 2-3-2 seating layout that comfortably accommodates seven adults, with high-quality Miko suede-trimmed inserts that stay cooler than full leather in direct sunlight. Tech is centered around a massive 13.2-inch touchscreen and a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, providing a modern, cockpit-like feel for the driver.

Safety

Safety is comprehensive with the Ford Co-Pilot360 Assist+ suite standard on this trim, including adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, lane-centering, and evasive steering assist. For the fast-paced multi-lane highways of the region, the blind-spot monitoring and 360-degree camera are invaluable additions. The vehicle's high-strength steel frame and eight-airbag system have earned it a top 5-star safety rating from the NHTSA, providing peace of mind for family transport.

The bottom line

For the GCC buyer who wants a nearly-new performance SUV without the waitlist or the full MSRP, this low-mileage ST is the sharpest opportunity in the current market.
