Summary

This 2026 ROX 01 Captain ETE is an exceptional find for GCC buyers seeking the ultimate family sanctuary with a near-zero mileage advantage. Its extended-range hybrid powertrain eliminates range anxiety, offering a massive combined range that makes cross-border travel between the Emirates or to Oman effortless. The Captain ETE trim is highly desirable in the region for its executive seating and high-end cabin finishes that rival established European luxury SUVs. While the Chinese regional spec offers cutting-edge tech at a significant value, buyers benefit from a growing support network in the UAE. In a market where road presence and summer comfort are paramount, this black-on-black SUV stands out as a sophisticated, efficient alternative to traditional fuel-heavy luxury cruisers.

This Car vs Other 2026 ROX 01s

With just 200 km on the odometer, this ROX 01 is effectively a new vehicle, offering a significant head start over higher-mileage used examples in the GCC. The Black Knight exterior kit is a premier resale choice in the UAE market, as it maintains a timeless, high-end look that holds value better than lighter or non-metallic shades. Being a 2026 model, it features the most refined software and battery management systems currently available for this platform.

CAPTAIN ETE vs Lower Trims

The Captain ETE trim represents the executive peak of the ROX 01 lineup, replacing the standard bench with two zero-gravity captain chairs in the second row. These seats feature 12-way electric adjustment, integrated leg rests, and 8-point massage functions—features rarely found at this price point and highly valued for long-distance desert drives. Additionally, this trim includes the advanced tri-zone climate system with independent controls for rear passengers, crucial for maintaining cabin temperature during extreme GCC summers.

01 vs Segment Rivals

The ROX 01 competes directly with the Li Auto L8 and AITO M7, leading the segment in total range with up to 1,362 km (CLTC) compared to many traditional hybrids that cap at 900 km. Its 5.5-second acceleration provides superior highway overtaking capability than the 4-cylinder Nissan Patrol or Toyota Land Cruiser variants. For the GCC family, the ROX 01 offers a distinct advantage in ground clearance (205mm) over road-biased Chinese EVs, making it better suited for weekend trips to the dunes.

Running Costs & Resale

As a range-extended electric vehicle (EREV), the 1.5L engine acts solely as a generator, leading to significantly lower fuel costs in Dubai stop-start traffic compared to traditional V8 SUVs. While Chinese spec cars face a steeper initial depreciation curve than Japanese brands, the high demand for premium EREVs in the UAE is stabilizing resale values for the ROX 01. Authorized service centers are expanding across major hubs like Dubai and Riyadh, though parts for specialized tech like LiDAR may have longer lead times compared to established brands.

Performance & Capability

The dual-motor all-wheel-drive system delivers a verified 470 hp and a massive 740 Nm of torque, ensuring immediate response even when fully loaded. The dedicated 'ROX Mode' includes specific settings for Sand and Wading, specifically engineered for soft terrain and seasonal flooding. On the highway, the 5.5-second sprint to 100 km/h makes it surprisingly agile for a full-size SUV, providing confidence when merging onto fast-moving arterial roads like Sheikh Zayed Road.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is a 6-seat sanctuary designed for the high-temperature GCC climate, featuring three-stage ventilation for both the first and second rows. A massive 15.7-inch 3K touchscreen serves as the central hub, while rear passengers enjoy a dedicated 15.6-inch entertainment screen to keep families occupied on long cross-emirate trips. Acoustic glass is standard on this trim, providing exceptional insulation from both exterior heat and road noise at high highway speeds.

Safety

The ROX 01 comes equipped with a sophisticated ADAS suite powered by high-definition cameras and sensors, providing adaptive cruise control and lane-keeping assist that are invaluable for long desert highway stretches. Standard safety hardware includes a 360-degree high-definition camera system for navigating tight parking spaces in urban malls. Active safety features like automatic emergency braking and blind-spot monitoring are standard, providing a safety net that is often an optional extra on its European competitors.

The bottom line

This 2026 ROX 01 Captain ETE is the perfect choice for the tech-forward family buyer who wants the luxury of a private jet for the road with the efficiency of a modern hybrid.
