Summary

This 2026 Toyota Fortuner SR5 in black is a premier choice for those seeking a modern SUV that balances everyday urban usability with reliable weekend capability. As a brand-new model year in the GCC market, it benefits from the high resale strength typically associated with late-model Toyotas in iconic black or white finishes. The SR5 trim offers a significant equipment jump over entry-level variants, providing more technology and refined interior touches that make it a smarter long-term buy. For the GCC owner, this vehicle represents a worry-free ownership experience thanks to its legendary reliability and widespread part availability. Whether navigating school runs in the city or exploring the coastal roads between Emirates, it remains a segment-leader in practical durability.

This Car vs Other 2026 Fortuners

Being a 2026 model, this Fortuner sits at the top of the current used market value curve, offering the latest infotainment updates and safety features standard for this generation. In the GCC market, a black exterior is a high-demand choice that maintains strong resale value alongside white and silver. Its status as a current-year vehicle ensures the mechanical components are in peak condition, providing a distinct advantage over higher-mileage examples from previous production years.

SR5 vs Lower Trims

The SR5 trim provides a notable upgrade over the base EXR, adding essential features for the GCC climate such as an improved 8-inch touchscreen display with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It also features 17-inch alloy wheels and enhanced exterior styling including a rear spoiler and LED fog lamps. These additions significantly improve the vehicle's aesthetic appeal and daily convenience, making it the most sought-after mid-range trim for regional buyers.

Fortuner vs Segment Rivals

The Fortuner leads the Mitsubishi Montero Sport and Ford Everest in terms of pure mechanical simplicity and regional support network. Its body-on-frame construction is a rare and valued feature in this segment, offering superior durability on unpaved terrain compared to monocoque rivals. Furthermore, the 80-litre fuel tank provides a longer cruising range for cross-border drives across the GCC than many of its competitors.

Running Costs & Resale

Fuel consumption for the 2.7L engine averages around 10.4 km/L, which is consistent for a vehicle of this weight class in stop-start city traffic and steady highway cruising. Toyota's authorised service network is the most extensive in the region, ensuring low-cost maintenance and rapid parts availability in every GCC country. This model typically sees one of the lowest depreciation rates in the market, often retaining over 85% of its value after three years of ownership.

Performance & Capability

The 2.7L petrol engine delivers a reliable 164 hp and 245 Nm of torque, paired with a smooth 6-speed automatic transmission that is tuned for GCC highway speeds. Its part-time 4WD system and impressive 279 mm ground clearance make it more than capable for light desert exploration and gravel tracks. Drive mode select, featuring Eco and Power modes, allows the driver to optimize performance based on the specific terrain or traffic conditions.

Comfort & Cabin

This 7-seater features a spacious layout with dedicated rear AC vents and an independent control panel, a critical feature for passenger comfort during GCC summers. The cabin includes high-grade fabric seats, a cooled glove box for beverages, and multiple USB charging ports for family devices. Extensive acoustic insulation helps keep the interior quiet during long-distance highway drives between major cities.

Safety

Safety is prioritized with a suite of active and passive systems including ABS with Brake Assist, Vehicle Stability Control, and Traction Control. This trim is equipped with dual front airbags and a driver-side knee airbag, alongside a rearview camera and front/rear parking sensors to assist in tight city spaces. Its 5-star ANCAP safety rating reflects the robust build quality designed to protect all seven occupants in various driving scenarios.

The bottom line

Perfect for the growing family or the weekend adventurer, this 2026 Fortuner SR5 offers the ultimate combination of Toyota's bulletproof reliability and the latest in-cabin technology.
