Summary

This 2026 Fortuner SR5 represents the benchmark for sensible SUV ownership in the GCC, combining legendary Toyota durability with a versatile seven-seat layout. As a brand-new model in black, it occupies a strong position in the local market where demand for late-model Japanese 4x4s remains exceptionally high. The SR5 trim provides the essential off-road hardware required for weekend desert excursions while maintaining a manageable footprint for city commuting. With an extensive service network spanning the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and beyond, it offers unmatched peace of mind for long-term ownership. This is a strategic choice for buyers prioritizing low depreciation and mechanical simplicity in the region's demanding climate.

This Car vs Other 2026 Fortuners

With zero kilometers on the clock, this 2026 model offers the full longevity of Toyota's body-on-frame architecture. In a market where average annual mileage often exceeds 25,000 km, starting with a fresh vehicle is a significant advantage for long-term value retention. The black exterior is a perennial favorite in the GCC, ensuring this specific unit remains highly liquid in the used market compared to unconventional colors.

SR5 vs Lower Trims

The SR5 trim elevates the experience over base models by adding key convenience features like cruise control and a rear-view camera, which are essential for navigating the UAE's multi-lane highway systems. It also includes upgraded 17-inch alloy wheels and integrated side steps, providing both a more premium stance and easier access for families. Inside, the inclusion of a touchscreen display with Apple CarPlay ensures modern connectivity that basic workhorse variants lack.

Fortuner vs Segment Rivals

Compared to rivals like the Mitsubishi Montero Sport or Ford Everest, the Fortuner leads with its superior resale value and the sheer density of its authorized service network across the GCC. While competitors may offer more complex electronic aids, the Toyota's mechanical simplicity is a proven advantage in the extreme summer heat. Its 80-liter fuel tank is specifically suited for long-distance desert highway drives between major cities.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the 2.7L engine typically ranges between 11.5 and 13.0 L/100km in GCC stop-start traffic, settling closer to 9.5 L/100km on steady highway cruises. Service intervals are standardized at every 10,000 km, with highly predictable maintenance costs and parts availability in every corner of the region. As a GCC-spec Toyota, it experiences some of the lowest annual depreciation rates in the market, typically retaining 80-85% of its value after the first three years.

Performance & Capability

The 2.7L four-cylinder engine is tuned for reliability and steady torque delivery, making it a dependable companion for both school runs and sand dunes. Its genuine 4WD system features a dedicated low-range transfer case, allowing it to navigate soft sand where road-biased crossovers would struggle. With 225 mm of ground clearance, it easily handles high speed breakers and uneven wadi terrain during weekend adventures.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is designed for GCC family life, featuring a three-row layout that comfortably accommodates seven passengers with dedicated rear AC vents to combat the summer heat. The SR5 trim includes premium fabric upholstery that stays cooler than leather in direct sunlight, while the one-touch tumble second-row seats make accessing the third row effortless. Ample cup holders and fast-charging USB ports cater to long road trips across the emirates.

Safety

Safety is managed through a comprehensive suite of active systems, including Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) and Traction Control (TRC), which are vital for maintaining composure on sandy or gravel-strewn surfaces. The SR5 comes standard with front airbags, a driver knee airbag, and Hill-start Assist Control (HAC) to prevent rolling on steep inclines. Additionally, the inclusion of ISOFIX points ensures secure child seat fitment for family-oriented buyers.

The bottom line

This 2026 Fortuner SR5 is the ideal match for a GCC family looking for a bulletproof daily driver that can transition seamlessly into a desert explorer on the weekends.
