Summary

This 2026 Toyota Hiace DX represents the most powerful iteration of the region's preferred transport platform, featuring the rare combination of a V6 powertrain and manual control. As a brand-new vehicle, it offers a fresh start for commercial fleets or tourism operators looking to avoid the high-wear risks typical of the used bus market. The white exterior remains the gold standard for GCC resale, ensuring the vehicle remains a highly liquid asset while effectively reflecting the intense local heat. With the 3.5L engine providing a significant power advantage over smaller diesel alternatives, it is perfectly suited for high-speed highway transit between major cities like Dubai and Riyadh. For any business prioritizing uptime and legendary Toyota durability, this GCC-spec Hiace is the most logical logistical investment available today.

This Car vs Other 2026 Toyota Hiaces

As a brand-new 2026 model, this Hiace sits at the very beginning of its lifecycle, offering zero-kilometer reliability in a market where used buses often carry high mileage. Its 3.5L V6 engine provides superior highway overtaking capability compared to the more common 2.8L four-cylinder diesel variants found in many fleet configurations. The white exterior is specifically chosen for the GCC market to maximize resale value and thermal efficiency during peak summer months.

DX vs Lower Trims

The DX trim provides essential upgrades over base panel van configurations, including a full interior cabin with seating for 9+ passengers and dedicated rear air conditioning registers. This trim adds an 8-inch infotainment display with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, ensuring modern connectivity that basic work-oriented models lack. It also features improved cabin insulation and fabric upholstery designed to withstand heavy daily use while maintaining passenger comfort.

Hiace vs Segment Rivals

When compared to the Nissan Urvan or Hyundai Staria, the Hiace leads with a significantly larger 3.5L V6 engine that offers more horsepower for fully-loaded trips. Its rear-wheel-drive architecture and reinforced leaf-spring suspension are specifically engineered for the heavy payloads and long-distance highway hauls common in the Emirates. Furthermore, the Hiace benefits from a vastly more dense parts and service network across the entire GCC, reducing potential downtime for commercial operators.

Running Costs & Resale

The Hiace consistently records some of the lowest depreciation rates in the GCC commercial segment, typically retaining its value better than European van rivals over a three-year period. While the V6 engine prioritizes performance, real-world fuel consumption remains predictable for a high-capacity vehicle, and its compatibility with local diesel grades is guaranteed by the GCC specification. Service intervals are typically every 5,000 to 10,000 km, supported by the most extensive authorized service network in the region, spanning from the UAE to Saudi Arabia.

Performance & Capability

The 3.5L V6 engine delivers a robust 278 hp and 351 Nm of torque, providing the necessary mechanical volume to move a full load of passengers without strain. The 6-speed manual transmission offers total driver control, which is particularly useful when navigating varied terrain or managing engine braking on long descents. Its rear-wheel-drive layout ensures a tighter turning circle than many front-wheel-drive competitors, aiding maneuverability in congested urban centers and hotel drop-off zones.

Comfort & Cabin

The 9+ seat configuration is designed with high-occupancy logistics in mind, featuring ergonomic fabric seating and ample headroom throughout the cabin. Crucially for the GCC climate, the independent front and rear air conditioning systems allow for rapid cooling of the entire interior even when external temperatures exceed 45°C. Multiple storage compartments and a modern dashboard layout with a central touchscreen make the Hiace a comfortable environment for professional drivers spending long hours behind the wheel.

Safety

Safety is managed through a suite of essential systems including dual front airbags, Vehicle Stability Control (VSC), and an Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD). The 2026 model also includes a rear-view camera as standard, which is vital for safe reversing in a vehicle of this size. These features, combined with a semi-bonneted body design for better impact absorption, provide a secure platform for passenger transport on fast-moving GCC highways.

The bottom line

This 2026 Hiace DX is the definitive choice for GCC fleet operators or private businesses needing uncompromised V6 power and the highest possible resale security in the region.
