Highlights

• 400 Nm of torque from a 2.4L turbo-diesel
• 80-litre fuel tank capacity
• 3,500 kg braked towing capacity

Summary

This 2026 Toyota Hilux SGLX arrives as a zero-kilometer workhorse, perfectly positioned for the GCC market where white is the undisputed king of resale value. While many rivals are moving toward complex small-displacement engines, this Hilux sticks to a proven 2.4L turbo-diesel formula that prioritizes low-end torque for heavy hauling and desert sand. The SGLX trim strikes a rare balance, offering a more refined interior with a touchscreen and parking sensors without the high price tag of the lifestyle-oriented V6 models. For a buyer in the UAE or Saudi Arabia, the combination of 4WD capability and an automatic gearbox makes it as capable of crossing dunes as it is navigating stop-start city traffic. With the 2.4L diesel being retired in some markets for 2027, this 2026 model represents the final opportunity to own this specific, highly efficient powertrain in a brand-new truck.

This Car vs Other 2026 Hiluxs

As a brand-new vehicle with zero mileage, this Hilux avoids the typical 20,000–25,000 km of wear seen on most first-year trucks in the GCC. Its white exterior is the most sought-after color for local resale, ensuring maximum value retention when it eventually returns to the market. Choosing this 2.4L diesel over the larger 2.8L or 4.0L variants offers a significant advantage in daily fuel costs, particularly for high-mileage highway commuting between emirates.

SGLX vs Lower Trims

The SGLX trim provides a substantial leap in daily comfort over the base GL and GLX workmate versions, which often feature basic steel wheels and simplified cabins. This trim adds 17-inch alloy wheels, a more sophisticated touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay, and a rear-view camera which is essential for parking a 5.3-meter truck. It also includes upgraded interior materials and front-seat ventilation, a feature that transforms the driving experience during the peak of the GCC summer.

Hilux vs Segment Rivals

The Hilux maintains a significant edge over the Mitsubishi L200 and Isuzu D-MAX through its sheer depth of the authorized service network, which is the most extensive in the GCC. While the Ford Ranger offers more technology, the Hilux’s 80-litre fuel tank and legendary body-on-frame durability make it the preferred choice for long-distance desert overlanding and remote site work. Its 400 Nm torque output is delivered lower in the rev range than most petrol-powered rivals, providing better pulling power when fully loaded.

Running Costs & Resale

The 2.4L diesel engine is highly efficient for its class, achieving approximately 14.1 km/L in combined driving conditions. Toyota's service network is unparalleled across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait, with service intervals typically occurring every 10,000 km, though a 5,000 km check is recommended for trucks used in heavy dust or extreme desert heat. The Hilux boasts the slowest depreciation rate in the pickup segment, often retaining up to 85% of its value after three years of ownership in the local market.

Performance & Capability

With 400 Nm of torque available from as low as 1,600 RPM, this truck handles heavy payloads and steep inclines with ease. The selectable 4WD system with a rear differential lock provides the necessary mechanical hardware for weekend desert trips or navigating loose gravel on job sites. It maintains a class-leading braked towing capacity of 3,500 kg, allowing it to pull large boats or heavy equipment trailers across the region's highways with total stability.

Comfort & Cabin

Inside, the five-seat cabin is designed to stay cool in 45°C+ heat, featuring a high-output air conditioning system and dedicated rear vents to ensure all passengers remain comfortable. The SGLX interior is more car-like than previous generations, featuring soft-touch materials and a digital display that provides vital vehicle data at a glance. Smart entry and a push-start system add a level of convenience usually reserved for luxury SUVs, making it an easy transition for drivers used to smaller vehicles.

Safety

This Hilux is equipped with an essential safety suite designed for high-speed highway traffic and off-road stability, including Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) and Hill-Start Assist. Passive safety is handled by multiple airbags, including a driver’s knee airbag, while the standard anti-lock braking system with EBD ensures controlled stops even when the bed is fully loaded. The inclusion of front and rear parking sensors significantly reduces the risk of low-speed collisions in tight urban environments.

The bottom line

For the GCC buyer who needs a truck that is as reliable as a Swiss watch and as tough as a desert lizard, this zero-km SGLX is the perfect balance of utility and modern comfort. It is the ultimate opportunity to secure a new 2.4L diesel Hilux before the generation shifts, offering the best resale security in the region.
