2018 Hyundai Kona photos go live

We’ve seen various leaks and heavy camouflaged versions of the 2018 Hyundai Kona. The South Korean manufacturer got a bit hot and bothered about the whole thing, so they have finally released pictures and all the information we need to get you excited.

From the outside, it’s clear the 2018 Hyundai Kona appeals to a young audience with a sleek yet muscular design. Its bold face is illuminated with LED headlights, wide grille and air intakes.

Inside, buyers are welcomed by a plethora of technologic gadgets including Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and an infotainment system available with a 5, 7 or 8-inch display.

Plus there’s a huge list of optional extras. Rear view camera, lane departure assist, heads-up display, high beam assist, forward collision assist and much more.

2-litre four cylinder motors will serve as the base engine in most regions. Rated at 147 horsepower and 179 Nm of torque, the engine is mated to a six-speed gearbox enabling a 0-100 km/h time of 10 seconds and a top speed of 194 km/h.

Additionally, a 1.6-litre turbocharged unit will be available providing 175 hp and 265 Nm of torque. Controlled by a seven-speed DCT, 0-100 km/h is cut down to 7.7 seconds and maxes out at 210 km/h.

Front-wheel drive is standard with the option of 4WD available.

Not enough for you? There is also a special edition 2018 Hyundai Kona. Iron Man special edition versions, measure in 40 mm wider than standard models plus a matte grey hood, unique LED headlights, red and gold accents and 19-inch alloys on each corner with an Iron Man mask adorning the centre.

2018 Hyundai Kona models are set to go on sale later this month in Korea, later in the year for European customers and early 2018 for those in North America.
