2018 Maserati Ghibli spotted

After three years in the market, the 2018 Maserati Ghibli has been spotted wearing heavy camo masking its front and rear resulting in a minor refresh for later this year or early next year.

Seeing as the camo covers select areas of the 2018 Maserati Ghibli, we should see Quattroporte inspired front and rear ends plus a redesigned, imposing front grille.

Not only will the 2018 Maserati Ghibli borrow styling cues from larger Quattroporte, but it’s also expected to adopt trim names too. With GranLusso and GranSport trims replacing the current Luxury and Sport trims respectively.

Inside, we’re not expecting any changes as Maserati updated the Ghibli’s infotainment system for 2017 models. Maserati redesigned the centre dash to accommodate a larger 8.4-inch touchscreen display.

However, the 2018 Maserati Ghibli could surprise us with softer interior materials and various new connection methods including Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

The Italian manufacturer hasn’t confirmed any changes to the powertrains. We expect the 2018 Maserati Ghibli to stick with the 3-litre V6 twin turbocharged petrol motor hooked up to an 8-speed automatic gearbox powering the rear wheels.

Current base models pack 345 horsepower allowing them to accelerate to 100 in 5.7 seconds and max out at 262 km/h. Whereas the slightly more potent S version pumps out 404 horsepower allowing a 0-100 sprint time of 5.1 seconds before topping out at 285 km/h.

Ghibli S models can be had with all-wheel drive dropping its sprint time to 4.9 seconds with an identical top speed as the rear wheel drive mode.
