2018 Porsche Boxster Spyder spotted

Spotted completely camo free, the 2018 Porsche Boxster Spyder sports a traditional manual folding roof and critical aerodynamic styling cues borrowed from the Boxster GTS and hides an exciting secret beneath its elegant exterior.

What intrigues us the most is what lies beneath the sporty exterior. Previous range-topping iterations of the Boxster is that they benefitted from the 370 horsepower flat-six 3.8-litre petrol engine borrowed from the 911 Carrera.

Sources indicate the new 2018 Porsche Boxster Spyder is said to borrow the 4.0-litre flat-six motor from the eye-watering 911 GT3 lineup. Power figures have yet to surface online, but seeing as the Boxster GTS pushes out 365 horsepower and the 4-litre engine packs 494 hp, you can expect the 2018 Boxster Spyder to push out a figure between those numbers with select sources throwing around the 420 hp figure.

We’ll have to wait and see about that though.

You can still equip a manual with the 2018 Porsche Boxster Spyder

As standard, the convertible entry-level sports car comes with a six-speed manual gearbox even though other manufacturers appear to be phasing out the hands-on transmission. However, a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic will be available.

As this is the top spec’d 2018 Porsche Boxster, many of the tech and comfort features will most likely be removed, but those can all be fitted back in for an additional fee of course.

Porsche has yet to announce when the 2018 Porsche Boxster is to arrive; you can expect the model to launch early next year.

Dubicars.com has used Porsche Boxster for sale in Dubai and Sharjah.
