2018 Volkswagen Polo makes grand debut

We’ve caught a glimpse of the 2018 Volkswagen Polo snoozing in a South African parking lot, and VW showcased the new model covered from head to toe while resting on a patch of grass.

With that all out of the way, Volkswagen have officially taken the wraps off the 2018 Polo and introduced the new hatchback with an impressive array of features.

Active cruise control, blind spot detection mirrors, rear traffic alert and park assist are all available with the 2018 Volkswagen Polo as optional extras whereas a speed limiter, tyre pressure monitoring system and front assist with city emergency braking and pedestrian monitoring is standard.

Inside, the 2018 Volkswagen Polo gets a fresh interior and is the first in line to receive the second-generation Active Info Display. Optionally, the hatchback can be equipped with a digital instrument panel, upgraded graphics and a 6.5-inch infotainment system.

2018 Volkswagen Polo hatchbacks are set to launch later this year in Europe with an alleged “extremely attractive price tag”. GCC residents may have to wait a little while longer as we expect the 2018 Polo to launch towards the end of 2017 or early 2018.

Upon launch, customers can choose between five trim levels including the previous Trendline, Comfortline and Highline. Newcomers include the eye-catching R-Line trim, and the new Beats trim level.

There are 14 exclusive exterior colours to choose from, 12 rim designs ranging from 12 to 18-inches, 13 decor options and 11 seat covers.

Power is drawn from a selection of nine engines starting off with a selection of 1-litre motors with turbocharged induction or left naturally aspirated. Powering the 2018 Polo GTI is a turbocharged 2-litre powering the front wheels with 197 horsepower resulting in a 0-100 sprint time of 6.7 seconds.
