Bentley Bentayga Plug-In Hybrid to debut next year

After the initial success of the petrol powered W12 6-litre Bentayga, Bentley worked tirelessly to create a V8 diesel version. With that version also proving to be a hit in select markets, a Bentayga plug-in is in the works and set to debut sometime in 2018.

Instead of the mighty 12 cylinder motor powering all four wheels, a 3-litre V8 supercharged engine takes its place with an electric motor and lithium-ion battery pack for an additional kick.

While no performance figures have surfaced, expect the Bentayga plug-in to be lighter on fuel consumption due to its smaller engine and additional electrical components. There’s also the potential of a quicker 100 km/h sprint time if the model can be launched on electrical power alone.

Cosmetically, the Bentayga plug-in will remain identical to its fossil-fuelled counterparts with the only noticeable change being an additional charging port located on the left rear quarter panel.

The cabin will also remain identical to the other versions, so no need to get disheartened thinking this version won’t feature premium leather seats with ventilated features, dual TV screens in the rear and a choice between four and five seats.

Bentley is said to launch the Bentayga plug-in hybrid sometime next year after the second generation of Continental GT models has rolled out.

We can’t rule out a fully electric version of the SUV, as the quaint British manufacturer showcased what their vision of a zero-emission vehicle some two years ago with the EXP-10 Speed 6 Concept.

Dubicars.com has new Bentley Bentayga and used Bentley Bentayga for sale in Dubai, Sharjah and Abu Dhabi.
