Cashless payment for Dubai taxi’s just got easier

Earlier this week, the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) finalised the installation of Point of Sale (POS) devices to ease the payment process for passengers.

The entire Dubai Taxi fleet which consists of 10,800 vehicles, have been fitted with the devices to make paying for cab rides in the Emirate that much easier.

Taxi passengers can now pay for the trips via credit/debit card, NFC technology via smartphones using Samsung Pay or Apple play and even Nol cards.

The introduction of the new devices contributes to the RTA’s strategic goals – Advance RTA and People Happiness.

“This project has been undertaken gradually over several phases until the entire fleet of 10,800 taxis was covered. It is part of our efforts to make life easy for taxi users and enable them to pay taxi fares via sophisticated methods that limit the need to use cash for payment,” explained Khaled Al-Awadi, Director of Transportation Systems at RTA’s Public Transport Agency.

“The completion of POS devices installation that supports the use of nol, credit or debit cards contributes to the satisfaction of taxi riders. Riders have broadly accepted the initial phases of the project, and the number of users of this technological solution has picked up remarkably recording several million transactions.”

Now that paying for taxi’s in Dubai is that much easier, you may need a place to sell your car! Starting at AED 99, you can sell your car in UAE today!
