Late last month, Al Masaood Automobiles, authorised distributor of Renault in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain and a leading player in Abu Dhabi’s automotive sector, opened a Renault concept store (R-Store) and service centre.
Located at the embassies area just off the Airport Road, the brand new R-Store is the first of its kind in Abu Dhabi and offers a wide range of services.
But that wasn’t all that was on show. Inside the showroom was a selection of Renault vehicles ranging from the all-electric ZOE to the popular Duster compact SUV. Of all the vehicles in the showroom, just one was covered.
After the opening ceremony concluded, the wraps were pulled off the mystery vehicle. To much appraise, underneath was the new Megane R.S.
Now in its third generation, the latest iteration of the hot hatch follows in the footsteps of its predecessors to become a benchmark in the C-segment sport market.
Sporting a powerful design influenced by the world of motorsport, the latest R.S boasts a rear bumper with a built-in diffuser and a central exhaust. Riding on 19-inch wheels, the Megane R.S sits 5mm lower compared to the Megane GT which adds to the vehicles aggressive profile.
The driving force behind the Megane R.S is a punchy 1.8-litre four-cylinder petrol engine pushing out 280 hp at 6,000 rpm and 390 Nm of torque available between 2,400 and 4,800rpm.
Speaking at the event, Irfan Tansel, CEO, Al Masaood Automobiles, said: “The Megane R.S is an incredibly versatile sports car that is equipped with all of the advanced technologies featured on Renault Megane to ensure comfort and safety of drivers.”
He continued, “The model is the latest addition to an impressive portfolio that proves the brand continues to grow every year and is one of the automotive sector’s greatest success stories.”
