Porsche 718 GTS revealed with potent four-pot motor

Those who held out for a potent 718, you made the right choice. Stuttgart’s finest has lifted the wraps off the Porsche 718 GTS available as a Cayman or a Boxster and is a feisty one indeed.

What makes these models so desirable is what drives the wheels. You may remember Porsche ditching the flat-six in favour of a four-cylinder engine. The Porsche 718 GTS stays true and draws power from a 2.5-litre turbocharged four-pot unit.

Rated at 365 horsepower and 430 Nm of torque, a 15 hp increase compared to 718 S models and 35 hp more than its predecessor courtesy of a newly developed air intake-duct and tweaked turbocharger.

Customers can choose between a PDK transmission and a more engaging six-speed manual. With the automatic gearbox fitted, 0-100 km/h is achieved in 4.1 seconds before maxing out a 290 km/h.

There’s more to the vehicle than a punchy motor. Highlights include a new front splitter, tinted lights, 20-inch alloys finished in satin black, black rear diffuser and a central twin exhaust pipe setup.

Inside, the interior transitions across from the standard 718 lineup with a few unique features here and there. This includes Alcantara-wrapped steering wheel and sports seats, GTS logos stitched into both seats and Sports Chrono Package as standard to complete the package.
