Porsche 911 Speedster successor to debut later this year

While Porsche may be working hard on the next generation of 911 models, rumours have started to circulate a 911 Speedster model is in the works and is being prepared as a final special edition model before the end of the current life cycle.

Information on the model remains scarce. However, history has a habit of repeating itself. In this case, Porsche usually unveils a Speedster variant before the end of the current 911 generation.

Last time Porsche unveiled a 911 Speedster was in 2010. Sporting an exclusive front end, lower windshield and wider rear end, but what made this model stand out from the rest is its eye-catching rear roof cover with two dome-like structures to hide the convertible roof.

Back then, the convertible sports car packed 402 horses and 550 Nm of torque thanks to a 3.8-litre six-cylinder petrol motor borrowed from the 911 GTS. This allowed the model to launch to 100 km/h in 4.6 seconds.

If sources are correct, the 911 Speedster will utilise the twin-turbo flat six 3-litre engine borrowed from the current GTS lineup. Currently, these units push out 444 horsepower and 550 Nm of torque enabling the model to sprint to 100 km/h in 3.7 seconds.

We’ll just have to wait until the Frankfurt motor show which starts on the 12th of September. Previously, Porsche built just 356 units coated in Pure Blue or Carrera White. Expect the next 911 Speedster to be produced in limited numbers to with their very own exclusive paint jobs.

Dubicars.com has new Porsche 911 and used Porsche 911 for sale in Dubai, Sharjah and Abu Dhabi.
