Qatar wants in on supercar madness

Supercars, ultracars, hypercars or whatever you want to call them are mind-bogglingly fast, flamboyant and only really come from certain parts of the world, mainly Europe. However in recent years, they have started popping up from various locations. For example, right here in the UAE we have three. Yes that’s right three, we’ve got W-Motors Lykan and Fenyr plus the epic Devel Sixteen. Qatar has been watching those three and fancy a go themselves.

Unveiled at the ongoing Qatar Motor Show, designed by a student at the University of Texas A&M Qatar branch, its name is unknown although the group behind the project is called Eliberia. Bought to life thanks to a partnership with Ali Bin Ali group, their goal is to create an eco-friendly supercar.

Its body is said to be constructed from carbon-fibre as it’s known for its durability and weight. Covered in gold metallic, it’s quite eye-catching to say the least. With some intense lines, sharp front end, performance rims and an interesting rear end, it looks to belong up in the clouds not on asphalt. But that’s all expected to change when a final production model hits the streets.

It’s not just the body panels or chassis that would be made from carbon fibre, the Qatari firm wants to construct pretty much the entire car. Parts such as the drivetrain would receive this treatment resulting in a more overall agile performance plus other benefits.

If it does hit the streets looking the way it does, it would cause some serious neck injuries as many heads will turn when this sports car rolls by.

Weighing in at only 1,000 kilos, which is 362 kilos lighter than the average car, it has the potential to keep up with other beloved sports cars available such as Mclaren’s 570S amongst others.

Powering this creation is said to by a V6 motor sourced from General Motors. Said to be good for 525 horsepower. Power is sent to all four wheels by an unrevealed gearbox.

Eliberia also have another vehicle on the table, not revealed to the public just yet. It does have a name however, Equvallas. Claimed to be powered by an engine capable of 800 horsepower, power in this model is sent to the rear wheels via a six-speed sequential gearbox. Its body is comprised of light weight carbon fibre, much like its less powerful sister.

As it is a concept for the time being, and this may not even be its final form, no release window is scheduled as of yet. Expect some figures to be revised and revealed such as top speed and 0-100 time. If a Middle Eastern supercar tickles your fancy, check out new W-Motors Lykan Hypersport for sale in Dubai
