Speed limit drop on Emirates Road & Shaikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road

PSA: As of October 2017, speed limits on Shaikh Mohammed Bin Zayed E311 and Emirates road will be decreased from 120 km/h to 110 km/h.

Both the RTA and Dubai Police chose to drop the speed limit in these two busy highways due to a number accidents occurring over the past two years.

According to Dubai Police, 60% of road accidents on highways are the result of over speeding.

Just this year, 99 accidents have occurred on Shaikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road alone resulting in numerous injuries. Last year, the highway experienced 196 accidents.

What about “When will the camera flash?” question that many of us are still skeptical about. Driving past a camera on either of these two roads at speeds of over 130 km/h will result in a fine.
