Strange 911 GT3 spotted

Spy photographers have snapped up a fresh batch of images of a peculiar looking 911 GT3. Could this be a new limited edition run of sports cars or a continuation of the 911 R?

Based on the monstrous 911 GT3 platform, this particular model spied doesn’t wear the massive rear wing we’re accustomed to bolted to the rear end.

This leads us to believe it is a special edition of the 911 GT3 as it certainly can’t be another iteration of the 911 R as that model is limited to 911 units.

Additionally, from the spy shots, the crossbar roll cage is nowhere to be seen inside the cockpit. Aside from that, the model just screams 911 GT3.

Earlier in the year, Porsche Exclusive Director of Special Vehicles Boris Apenbrink dropped subtle hints that a new special edition model is to drop later this year from the German manufacturer.

Porsche hasn’t confirmed any power units for the special edition 911 GT3. Current forms benefit from a naturally aspirated 4-litre flat six cylinder motor powering the rear wheels. Rated at 500 horsepower and 459 Nm of torque, the sports car can accelerate to 100 in 3.4 seconds while maxing out at 318 km/h.

If this is to be a special of the 911 GT3, expect it to launch with a higher price tag than the current models.

There’s still plenty of time before the model launches; we’ll keep you updated when we know more in the coming months.

We’ve got new Porsche 911 and used Porsche 911 for sale in Dubai, Sharjah and Abu Dhabi.
